“Don’t want to cause fear. Don’t want to cause panic. But I want the public to be aware that you are under attack,” Ohio Sheriff Richard Jones told reporters after attending the National Sheriffs’ Association conference in Washington D.C. February 3-6.
The Butler County sheriff held a press conference in Ohio last week to discuss what he learned about the rising terror threat in the U.S. and share how he plans to prepare his community for potential attacks.
The sheriff said that FBI Director Christopher Wray briefed the lawmen about the high likelihood that the United States will suffer a devastating terrorist attack due to the staggering number of illegals pouring over the nation’s borders.
“Some are coming here to do harm to us, and we were told by the FBI director it’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when,” Jones said.
According to U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) 49 suspected terrorists have been arrested at the border in fiscal year 2024, and 19 in December alone. Many other “gotaways” have snuck in “with duffle bags” and are roaming freely throughout the United States,” Jones noted.
“Are they bringing groceries with them? We don’t think so,” he said. “We believe there’s a good, strong possibility they’re bringing something in here to cause us harm.”
The sheriff noted that China has “safe houses” in every state in the United States.
“We were told by Mr. Wray, the FBI director, that there are more red flags going off now than before 9/11,”” Jones said. “When I say red flags, I mean people that are here in this country that are wanting to do harm to us.”
Jones contended that our involvement in foreign wars is exacerbating the strong anti-American sentiment that already exists in certain adversarial countries.
“These people did not like us before this started,” he said, adding that people are migrating from 160 different countries and many of them are coming here “not to be our friends.”
Joe Biden refused to meet with the 3,300 sheriffs when they held their annual winter conference, last week, Jones said.
“It sent the message that he doesn’t care,” he told Fox News. “The president refuses to meet with us and we’ve been trying for three years.”
Jones said Biden also refuses to meet with the nation’s police chiefs.
During the presser, he told reporters that a contingent of five sheriffs went to Israel following the October 7 attack and discovered that the only thing that prevented a wider slaughter were the actions of local law enforcement.
“Even in Israel, you can’t just call the military up and they’re going to be there,” he explained. So the Palestinian terrorists were able to “go house to house raping and killing” throughout the kibbutzim, he said.
Jones said that the Israelis told the sheriffs that the terrorists hate Americans just as much Israelis.
“These are people who hate us and want to do harm to us,” he warned. “I want the public to know that we are in a terrible way right now.”
Jones said that at the conference, the sheriffs were also told that the our enemies plan to attack local elections with cyber attacks in 2024. The Russians, Iranians and Chinese, he explained, are attacking our cyber systems relentlessly multiple times a day. He warned that there are ongoing threats to our electrical grid, and our phone system, too.
“And our grid system is from the 1960s,” he pointed out.
The sheriff said he was offering classes to civilians to train them on what to do during a disaster or emergency.
He said that he had asked the Ohio Legislature to introduce legislation to created a task force to stop illegal immigrants and drugs from coming into Ohio from both the northern and southern borders. He said he also asked local lawmakers to produce legislation to create a “cyber security czar” to track the constant attacks on the state’s computer systems.
Lastly, he requested legislation similar to the new Texas law that makes it possible to deport illegal immigrants who break the law.
“If the government’s not going to stop it [illegal immigration], we have to do it here in our county,” he said.
