Over 60 Companies Demand Texas Drops Policy Categorizing Transgender Procedures as Child Abuse

A recent advertisement released by over 60 major companies in the United States calls on the state of Texas to abandon a recent order that treats so-called “transitioning” procedures for “transgender” children as child abuse.

According to Axios, the print ad ran in the Friday edition of the Dallas Morning News, and was signed by such companies as Apple, Google, Facebook, PayPal, Johnson & Johnson, Ikea, Capital One, and Electronic Arts, among others.

“The recent attempt to criminalize a parent for helping their transgender child access medically necessary, age-appropriate healthcare in the state of Texas goes against the values of our companies,” the ad reads. “We call on public leaders — in Texas and across the country — to abandon efforts to write discrimination into law and policy.”

“It’s not just wrong,” the ad continues, “it has an impact on our employees, our customers, their families, and our work.”

The ad is referencing an executive order by Governor Greg Abbott (R-Texas), which directs the state Department of Family and Protective Services to “conduct a thorough and prompt investigation” of any parents who force their underaged children to undergo “elective procedures for gender transitioning.” The order also requests that “members of the general public,” including teachers, doctors, and nurses, play their part and report any such instances when they see it happening. Those who fail to report child abuse under the new policy could face criminal penalties of their own.

The advertisement was organized by the far-left Human Rights Campaign (HRC). HRC’s interim president Joni Madison released a statement claiming that “Texas state leaders are forcing parents of transgender kids to decide between abandoning their lives, quitting their jobs, and leaving the state, or fostering a safe, inclusive environment for their child.”

Abbott’s order is one of many similar actions taken across the country by Republican-controlled states in a broader effort to crack down on the rise of transgenderism, the false and scientifically-debunked notion that there are more than two genders, and that anyone can change their gender whenever they feel like doing so. Many studies have confirmed that when minors are forced to go through such transition procedures, including hormone-blocking and surgery, the likelihood of suicide or attempted suicide actually increases.
