Texas Governor Calls for Residents to Report Parents of ‘Transgender’ Children for Child Abuse

On Tuesday, Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R-Texas) called on “licensed professionals” and “the general public” to start reporting any parents who claim to have “transgender” children, so that state authorities can look into charging them with child abuse.

According to NBC News, Governor Abbott sent a letter to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services declaring that the agency was to “conduct a prompt and thorough investigation” of any instance where parents put underaged children through “elective procedures for gender transitioning.”

Abbott’s order came one day after Attorney General Ken Paxton (R-Texas) declared that putting minors through any such “transitioning” process, such as puberty blockers, hormone therapy, and “sex reassignment surgery,” constitutes child abuse. Paxton’s statement was an opinion interpreting existing state law, after the Texas State Legislature previously failed to pass a law outright banning such procedures.

Abbott called on licensed professionals, such as teachers, doctors, and nurses, to report such instances of child abuse, and also encouraged “members of the general public” to do the same. The governor warned that “failure to report such child abuse” could also lead to “criminal penalties.”

The Biden Administration criticized Abbott’s declaration, with Assistant Secretary for Health Richard Levine, a man who falsely believes himself to be a woman and who now goes by Rachel, declaring that Biden’s Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) “stands with transgender youth and their medical providers.”

“Our nation’s leading pediatricians support evidence-based, gender affirming care for transgender young people,” he continued in his statement, even though there is no evidence to support the claim that any such “transitioning” procedure is successful.

Transgenderism is the false, scientifically-debunked claim that there are more than two genders, and that any person can suddenly change their gender whenever they feel like it. The rise of transgenderism has led to widespread backlash across the country, with many states taking up legislation to curb such harmful practices as “gender transitioning,” while also cracking down on efforts to let transgenders use whichever gender-segregated facilities they please, a trend that has led to an increase in sexual assaults of minors in such public facilities.
