One of the most memorable lines from the 1995 movie “The Usual Suspects” is this: “The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he did not exist.”
With just a little tweak, this statement could be applied to the last presidential election: “The greatest trick the Democrats ever pulled was convincing the voters they did not steal the 2020 election.”
Consider the number of things the Left has been willing to lie to the American people about in recent years. The short list includes: COVID, suppressing its origins and effective means of treatment; January 6, 2021, touted as worse than Pearl Harbor and 9/11 combined and jailing Capitol trespassers for over a year without trial dates; Hunter Biden’s laptop, immediately and roundly dismissed as “Russian disinformation”; destructive and deadly riots blithely labeled “mostly peaceful protests”; and parents at school board meetings protesting critical race theory viciously defamed and treated as would-be “domestic terrorists.”
But between all of these (and so many more) major news stories, Americans en masse have begun to wake up and search for the truth outside what’s being spoon-fed (and in some cases shovel-fed) to them by the corporate left-wing media. After going to alternative sources to discover facts and weigh evidence, eyes have been opened, and a new, healthy and proper “wokeness” has emerged. Finally, we have stirred a vibrant mistrust of those in whom, just a decade ago, most Americans trusted to tell us the truth.
So why has this leap of faithlessness not jumped over to the obvious facts of the 2020 election? Those currently in power have a clear track record of covering up the truth on major news stories, but we’re somehow supposed to believe what they say about the 2020 election?
Though they assure us with declarations that, “We did not steal the 2020 election,” common sense tells us otherwise. In my lifetime I have never seen another person on the planet who has been more incessantly demonized and hated than Donald Trump. And I believe most everyone would agree with this observation, regardless of whether they love Trump or believe he deserves everything that’s been said about him and thrown at him.
The Left spent four-plus years trying nonstop to impeach, disqualify, or simply get rid of Donald Trump. Then after that unrelenting assault leading up to the 2016 election, and continuing through to Election Day 2020, we are supposed to believe that they gave up on their direct attack and decided on a new, “can’t miss” winning strategy.
The Left to this day wants us to believe that they would never attempt anything nefarious to remove a man from office that they tried unceasingly and unethically to expunge for four years. This man they characterized as a buffoonish Hitler 2.0 was so incredibly dangerous to democracy that the only way to stop him from getting a second term, and by extension a second shot at destroying America from within, was to trust the voters to do the right thing? These same “deplorables” who voted Trump into office the first time could now certainly be counted upon to unceremoniously show him the exit the second time around?
The Left wants us to believe that during the campaign season of 2020, all Americans simply woke up and decided the Democrats are the superior team. While the Republicans were sticking with that big, Twitter-banned loser Trump, the Democrats were offering in his place a feeble retread who was showing early signs of dementia. And his running mate—who couldn’t garner even a single delegate of support in the primaries—was suddenly recognized as a high-potential diamond in the rough?
And this dynamic duo did not have to campaign in the traditional way, no sir. They left that to the hapless Trump, with his rally crowds in the tens upon tens of thousands and those ne’er do wells piloting boat, motorcycle, and truck parades. The Democrat at the top-of-the-ticket popped out of his bunker every so often, groundhog-like, to talk from behind a mask to about 15 people separated by circles 12 feet in diameter, and then returned with assured presidential-hopeful steps to the safety of that same snug bunker. Talk about optics!
Then, after all the campaigning was said and done and election night finally arrived, have we ever not known the winner of a presidential election within hours of the polls closing across the country? It might take staying glued to our television sets until the wee hours of the next morning, as in the 2016 election, but certainly by very early the morning of the day after the election, everyone in the country would be satisfied that a president either had been elected or reelected.
Only one time in recent history did the results of the election play out in an unexpected way. “Hanging chads” entered our lexicon because of the voting system in Florida during the 2000 election. What followed was a massive, intensive scrutiny of all legal votes, demanded by every citizen, whether Left, Right, center, Democrat, Republican, or independent. And this took a couple of months to come to a hard-fought-on-all-sides resolution.
In 2020, however, there was a problem with not one, but with half a dozen states, that oddly enough comprised only the swing states. Those states all stopped counting within hours of each other, and this while Trump was either in the lead or surging. The count stopped cold, and suddenly (for some reason) we were told it would take days, not hours, to pick things up again to finish the tallies. Over the next few days, then, tens of thousands of ballots mysteriously arrived and unbelievably—perhaps you could say magically—they were overwhelmingly slated for Joe Biden. And any irregularities that emerged in voting machines, whether a surge or general error, always favored Biden. Nothing in the plus column for Trump in any of the states he needed to reach 270.
After this whole “dramatic pause” in the action that took three days to resolve, the corporate leftist media, led by the New York Times’ triumphant front-page banner headline, declared Joe Biden was the clear winner.
Biden has been propped up behind the president’s desk in the White House for just over one year now. The dust has settled. Those who shouted “Stop the Steal!” have been squelched (and in some cases imprisoned). And those who even murmur support for the election-fraud sentiment are singled out for cancellation.
In fact, the Left has told us that we can be so sure that the election wasn’t stolen that there’s no need for us to check. In the investigation that they never conducted, they discovered not even a hint of evidence of fraud. Remember: It was the most secure election in history. Mic drop.
And we believe it.
Don’t we?
Another prescient movie comes to mind that fits the times in which we live. The 1976 movie “Network” introduced us to the “Mad Prophet of the Airwaves,” UBN news anchor Howard Beale, played by Peter Finch. One of Beale’s memorable observations, shouted on-air from behind his evening-news desk, applies today: “This is mass madness, you maniacs!”
Some pundits and doctors have labeled this sentiment as “mass formation psychosis” or just “mass formation.”
What’s the cure? Well, let’s go back to that blunt-talking news anchor Howard Beale: “Things have got to change. But first, you’ve gotta get mad . . . You’ve got to say, ‘I’m as mad as hell, and I’m not going to take this anymore!’”
Hey, that seems to be working for the vaccine-mandate madness. So, why not? Fingers crossed, maybe it’ll work for exposing the 2020 election steal, as well.
