Hillary Ad Nauseam

Few events would seem to be more excruciating than an evening with Hillary and Bill Clinton. Remarkably, many Americans truant of their synapses seem happy to stump up hundreds of dollars for such cultural root canal treatment.

On Monday, Hillary announced a 13-stop speaking tour in which purgatorial souls might douse themselves in immutable grievance-sharing.

“An Evening With The Clintons” is stamped as a “one-of-a-kind conversation” in which masochists can suckle on a bitter history most Americans would rather not indulge.

But why anyone would pay to hear Hillary Clinton conjure a grievance is puzzling. Since she lost the presidency, Hillary has regularly been sharing grievances for free to anyone who would listen.

Talking to CNN the other day, Hillary launched herself into headlines claiming that civility in American politics is umbilical to a Democratic House and Senate.

This, after the Kavanaugh hearing in which Democrats were, ahem, a tad uncivil.

“You cannot be civil with a political party that wants to destroy what you stand for, what you care about,” she told Christiane Amanpour. “That’s why I believe, if we are fortunate enough to win back the House and/or the Senate, that’s when civility can start again.”

We can surmise what such “civility” would look like. And so can voters who told pollsters the whole lurid affair was a “national disgrace.”

Yet Hillary is convinced—still—that this nightmare will dissolve into a narcotic reality if she and the “large and disorderly crowd of people,” (but definitely not a “mob”) could just seize the House and usher away Orange Man Bad.

It’s all so simple. America is cleaved into two halves: progressives noble in their resistance of Trump, and outdated conservatives standing in the way of “progress.” Or not.

As a team of social scientists published on Wednesday, the neat split of righteous versus riotous doesn’t match up with the Hillary narrative.

According to “Hidden Tribes: A Study of America’s Polarized Landscape,” Americans divide seven ways, from Progressive Activists (8 percent), to Traditional Liberals (11 percent), Passive Liberals (15 percent), the Politically Disengaged (26 percent), to Moderates (15 percent), Traditional Conservatives (19 percent), and Devoted Conservatives (6 percent).

Four of those make up the Exhausted Majority—tired of partisan culture war and political gridlock, and the warring of the “wings” between Progressive Activists and the Conservative blocs.

Researchers found 65 percent of the Exhausted Majority want compromise. Not, as Hillary insinuated this week, political death battles.

Such comments are all about ginning up the base.

Indeed, the Kavanaugh dirty bomb was part of the same toxic brew. Democrats assumed that mulching a man under the molars of #MeToo would sate their base, before the midterm feast.

That bomb blew up in their faces. Voters soon told pollsters they were shifting toward the Republicans.

Yet Hillary can’t see it. She and her tony coastal pals haven’t noticed the ground churning beneath their Louboutins.

We see this in their self-soothing prognostications, and denunciations of anyone cerebral enough to commune with reality.

Those who dare are branded mentally ill. Or worse. Kanye West’s visit to the Oval Office this week was lacquered with a putrid film resemblant of a murky past.

CNN’s Don Lemon charged the MAGA-behatted superstar as a “Token Negro,” blithely dismissing his questioning of the handiwork entrenching Black America’s suffering—and votes.

Lemon then suggested that Kanye needed a “father figure.”  Which is just lovely, given that the Democratic destruction of the black family has left two-thirds of young black males without one.

Donna Brazile tweeted that a self-made black man shaking the hand of the president “set us back 155 years.”

Both should know a shift in Black America is underway. Recently, over one-third of Black Americans said they approved of President Trump.

Why? Because Trump is doing what others said they would do but failed to do. The President has done more for Black America in two years, than President Obama managed in eight.

But the self-appointed saviors of minorities everywhere don’t care. The last thing they want is for Black Americans to take a fair-minded look at President Trump’s record.

Progressives need that vote. But the bad news thickens. The same Tribes study showed the Democratic political correctness bludgeon irks 80 percent of Americans. A majority of minorities oppose PC culture. Remarkably, to progressives at least, they just want to be Americans like everyone else. With a fair shot at the American Dream. Just like everyone else.

And that is a big problem for progressives. As Shelby Steele contended in a fearsome essay for the Wall Street Journal, today’s Democrats depend on the trafficking of victimhood.

But those victims don’t want the label. The man courting their votes has just confirmed Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, and sunk black unemployment to its lowest rate ever, as the economy whirrs along nicely. What is the Democratic midterm offer? Reverse all this good work, impeach the man responsible, and possibly impeach his Supreme Court pick?

So, perhaps we will have to wait a little longer than November for civility to return. But there could be plenty more for Hillary and her followers to grieve over.
