Pro-Hamas Agitators Block O’Hare Airport, Golden Gate Bridge, Valero and More With ‘Aim of Causing the Most Economic Impact’

Pro-Hamas agitators launched a “multi-city economic blockade” in “solidarity with Palestine” Monday to show their opposition to the war in Gaza and demand an end to the U.S. government’s support of Israel. The anti-Israel activists targeted commerce in multiple cities, including Chicago, Oakland, San Francisco, New York, Miami, and San Antonio, in an effort “to disrupt and blockade economic logistical hubs and the flow of capital,” according to the a15action website.

The A15 protest was reportedly coordinated by a coalition of far-left radical groups, including Within Our Lifetime, The People’s Forum, Answer Coalition, and Decolonize This Place.

Organizers said the demonstrations aimed to “identify and blockade major choke points in the economy, focusing on points of production and circulation with the aim of causing the most economic impact.”

“There is a sense in the streets in this recent and unprecedented movement for Palestine that escalation has become necessary: there is a need to shift from symbolic actions to those that cause pain to the economy.” the website states.

One group of anti-Israel protesters blocked inbound traffic to Chicago O’Hare International Airport Monday morning, forcing some travelers to get out of their cars and walk to the terminals.

Cellphone videos posted on social media show the agitators standing in the middle of Interstate 1-190 with their arms interlocked through long tubes, preventing cars from reaching the airport. The activists, who were from a group called “Chicago Dissenters,” wore keffiyeh scarves and brandished signs that said “Free Palestine” and “Stop Genocide.”

The activists were hoping to disrupt Boeing’s operations because the company sells weapons to Israel, CBS reported. They also demanded an end to the U.S. government’s support of Israel.

“On this Tax Day, when millions are paying taxes which fund the ongoing U.S and Israeli bombardment of Gaza, protestors seek to take dramatic action,” the group Chicago Dissenters wrote in an Instagram post. “O’Hare International Airport is one of the largest in the country, and there will be NO business as usual while Palestinians suffer at the hands of American funded bombing by Israel.”

The “Dissenters” describe themselves as an “anti-militarism youth movement turning the tide against endless war in our communities here and abroad.”

The group posted photos and video of the demonstration on social media.

“BREAKING: Organizers are blockading the road entering O’Hare Airport in Chicago‼️‼️,” the group wrote on X. “NO business as usual while the US green lights the genocide of Palestinians.”

At 9:18 a.m., the airport’s X account reported that inbound traffic was resuming and warned travelers to allow extra time to get to their gate.

Keffiyeh-clad agitators also shut down the Golden Gate Bridge Monday morning, blocking southbound 101 headed into San Francisco.

The roads and sidewalks in both directions were reportedly closed.

The protest reportedly started in Oakland.

At about 10:30 a.m., California Highway Patrol in Marin said on social media it had started making arrests.

A group of pro-Hamas agitators also demonstrated outside the Valero headquarters in San Antonio to show “support for the people of Gaza and the right of all Palestinians to be free of violence.”

Valero Energy Corporation is a downstream petroleum company that manufactures and markets transportation fuels.

An organizer with the protesters said they were composed of different groups from the San Antonio and Austin areas, KENS5 reported.

Police were on the scene as agitators chanted slogans through bullhorns. There were no reports of arrests.

The pro-Hamas group “Within Our Lifetime” gathered to “flood Wall Street” in a planned demonstration in New York City, Monday afternoon.

Pro-Israel counter-protesters faced off with the pro-Hamas forces resulting in skirmishes like the ones below. A pro-Hamas agitator was later arrested.

An attempt to shut down the Brooklyn bridge reportedly resulted in “mass arrests.”

Pro- Palestine activists also demonstrated in Connecticut early Monday morning “in solidarity” with A15 actions across the country.

A group of agitators chained themselves together and blocked the entrance to Pratt & Whitney, an aerospace manufacturer in Middletown, Ct.

Middletown Police said they found “several people sitting in the road with their arms interlocked inside tubes and others standing in the road chanting and filming the protest against the war in Gaza.”

The protesters had also placed a vehicle across the road, blocking part of Aircraft Road, and Pratt & Whitney campus employees could not enter or leave the campus, police said.

“There’s many workers here that, unfortunately, their shifts were interrupted. But we want to raise the awareness that there are people starving to death in Gaza, and American weapons are being used to enforce that siege and genocide in Gaza.” Eamon Ormseth, one of the protesters, said.

State police, Meriden Police, Cromwell Police, and Berlin Police sent officers to assist and ten agitators were arrested.

Organizers are now trying to raise funds to post bail for the arrested agitators.

Update:

A Pro-Hamas demonstration in Miami didn’t get very far before officers reportedly “appeared in riot gear, on horseback, and on motorcycles” to shut it down.

“Officers responded to over 100 protesters who were in front of Bayside Marketplace in downtown Miami, at around 1 p.m.,” 7News reported.

The agitators were attempting to block the entrance to PortMiami.

Several agitators were dragged out of the street and immediately arrested by Miami Police. The officers were reportedly assisted by state troopers and armored vehicles.
