FDA Agrees to Remove Anti-Ivermectin Posts Off the Internet in Lawsuit Settlement

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has reportedly settled a lawsuit brought by three doctors who who accused the health regulator of interfering with their ability to practice medicine and prescribe Ivermectin to treat COVID.

Dr. Mary Talley Bowden, Dr. Paul E. Marik and Dr. Robert L. Apter sued the FDA in June of 2022, asking the court to: “Hold unlawful and set aside any FDA actions directing or opining on whether ivermectin should be used for certain off-label purposes, including treatment of COVID-19.”

“After nearly two years and a resounding rebuke by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, the FDA has agreed to remove its misleading social media posts and consumer directives regarding ivermectin and Covid-19,” said Bowden.

The Appeals Court had written in its decision: “The FDA is not a physician. It has authority to inform, announce, and apprise—but not to endorse, denounce, or advise.”

The posts in question include the FDA’s infamous crack posted on several social media sites on August 21, 2021, reading, “You are not a horse. You are not a cow. Seriously, y’all. Stop it.”

“This adds to the incredibly sad and injurious actions taken by Health Agencies against US citizens,” Dr. Pierre Kory, an expert on the use of Ivermectin to treat COVID-19, wrote in a comment under the Twitter post at the time. “I hope for a historic reckoning someday.”

In reaction to the settlement Friday, Kory wrote on X: “Huge win for doctors and patients today. Americans should rejoice that we got the (P)FDA to get out of the practice of medicine. They knew they did not have that authority but did it anyway. Now they have to take everything they did against ivermectin off the internet.”

The FDA also agreed to remove a Twitter post from April 26, 2022 that read, “Hold your horses, y’all. Ivermectin may be trending, but it still isn’t authorized or approved to treat COVID-19.”

Additionally, the regulator will “retire” a March 5, 2021 “consumer update” on its website, titled:  “Why You Should Not Use Ivermectin to Treat or Prevent COVID-19,” and delete all social media posts that link to the consumer update.

The FDA will retain the right to post a revised update on the matter, according to independent journalist Emily Miller.

In June of 2023, Kory and co-author Jenna McCarthy released The War on Ivermectin, the Medicine that Saved Millions and Could Have Ended the Pandemic, chronicling the coordinated global campaign to cancel the decades-old, Nobel Prize-winning medication.

Kory appeared recently on the Tucker Carlson Network to discuss how the public health bureaucracy failed in its response to the pandemic, including its suppression of off-label treatments.

Commenting on X, Dr.  Bowden wrote: “This landmark case sets an important precedent in limiting FDA overreach into the doctor-patient relationship.”

Bowden told Miller: “The damage the FDA inflicted will linger, but future patients are now protected from one meaningful government intrusion into their medical care.”

  1. Ivermectin, one of the safest drugs ever discovered. Used by hundreds of millions of people worldwide with no significant side effects. The 2015 Nobel prize in Medicine was awarded to the physician who discovered this remarkable drug. And yet the FDA decided to wage a massive propaganda campaign against it for reasons that we’ll never know.

  2. I had assumed throughout this entire fiasco that the off label use of drugs like ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine was actively demonized by the FDA due to potential loss of profits. There was so much wrong with the way COVID infection was handled it’s difficult to sort out. But the fact that physicians had their medical licenses suspended is unconscionable.
