Florida Sheriff Says Biden Regime is Forcing Him to Release a Dangerous Illegal Alien into the Community

The Sheriff of Martin County Florida says U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) is forcing him to release a dangerous illegal alien rapist from the county jail.

Juan Jose-Sebastian, 26, an illegal immigrant from Guatemala, was arrested in Martin County for driving without a license. (Update: After this story went viral, ICE authorized local law enforcement to locate and re-arrest the fugitive from justice).

Jose-Sebastian “will soon walk out of the Martin County Jail a free man, even though he has a warrant out of Washington County, Oregon for three counts of rape and sexual abuse,”  the Martin County Sheriff’s Office wrote in a Facebook post Friday afternoon.

Martin County Sheriff William Snyder reportedly learned this afternoon that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) “will not take custody of the undocumented Guatemalan immigrant and Washington County Oregon will not extradite from Florida.”

As a result, the wanted rapist will be released into our community today. There is no legal way for the Sheriffs Office to continue holding Jose – Sebastian, as he completed his sentence for the charge of driving without a valid license.

Jose-Sebastian was released late Friday and now walks free.

Sheriff Snyder told CBS 12News that he’s “had enough.”

“We are being pushed and hammered by the level of undocumented immigrants that were housing and our jail. Today is a classic example of what’s going on,” Snyder said. “People ask me all the time, what can be done? The answer is this. I can’t do it. There are no local laws that empower me to do anything about illegal immigration.”

This year alone, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) has cited 140 people for driving without a license, more than 30 of them are currently waiting behind bars for immigration.

The most recent arrest was on Thursday when police arrested Jannier Alexander Pina Barboza, 26, for allegedly going over 70 mph in a 45 mph zone, past a group of kids waiting for the school bus.

But it gets worse, Snyder said.

“We have four undocumented immigrants in our jail. Three of them were driving, never had a license, and ended up killing someone. The fourth one never had a license, was driving under the influence, and also killed somebody,” the sheriff told 12 News.

Update: (Saturday):

After this story was publicized, local officials, including Governor Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.), intervened to pressure ICE to reverse course, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office reported Saturday morning in another Facebook post.

ICE officials on Saturday authorized the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office to re-arrest Jose-Sebastian, and he is now in the custody of immigration officials.

“Following a Facebook post Friday night informing the public that Martin County Sheriff William Snyder had no legal authority to detain an undocumented Guatemalan man wanted in Oregon on rape charges, the suspect is now back in custody,” the sheriff’s office said.

“At the request of ICE officials, Deputies with the Martin County Sheriff’s Road Patrol 300 Shift re-located and detained 26-year old Juan Jose-Sebastian early this morning, only a few hours after his release from the Martin County Jail.”

The undocumented Guatemalan man is wanted in Washington County, Oregon on three counts of rape and sexual abuse. The fugitive from justice was in the Martin County Jail on charges of driving without a license, but his sentence for that crime was served. Upon notification of his pending release, jail officials discovered that Jose-Sebastian was wanted on a warrant for rape in Oregon. When they notified ICE, federal authorities declined to hold him. Oregon officials declined to extradite him. With no authority to keep him in custody, Jose-Sebastian was subsequently released from our jail with a notification to the public.

Reaction from our community was swift, particularly actions taken by Congressman Brian Mast who worked immediately on this issue, along with Governor Ron DeSantis and ICE Officials out of Washington DC. As a result, ICE officials authorized MCSO [The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office] to locate and re-arrest the fugitive from justice. He is now in the custody of Immigration officials.

This story comes amid a rash of horrific crimes committed by illegal immigrants across the country that has put America on edge.

Joe Biden and Republican 2020 presidential frontrunner Donald Trump both visited the southern border in Texas on Thursday, amid bipartisan calls for the border crisis to be solved.

Trump visited Eagle Pass, a section of the border that has seen masses of migrants illegally cross over.

Biden visited the relatively calm border town Brownsville, Texas, for a series of photo-ops with Border Patrol officials and others in an effort to pressure Republicans to pass a controversial immigration bill.
