Following the release of a widely-touted letter signed by numerous intelligence agency officials in 2020 claiming that reports about Hunter Biden’s laptop were “Russian disinformation,” several of the letter’s signatories were given jobs in the Biden Administration.
As reported by the Daily Caller, the letter’s origins have finally been revealed in an explosive scandal that implicates Secretary of State Antony Blinken. Former Deputy Director of the CIA Michael Morrell testified last week to the House Judiciary Committee that he was ordered to orchestrate the letter in the fall of 2020 by Blinken, who at the time was a senior campaign adviser to Joe Biden. Morrell gathered together the group of roughly 50 former officials to have them sign off on the letter, which came out after the New York Post first began reporting on the laptop and its contents.
Jeremy Bash, a former chief of staff for the CIA, was the one who put Morrell in touch with Biden’s campaign chairman Steve Richetti, who personally thanked Morrell for facilitating the letter’s creation. Bash was then appointed to Biden’s Intelligence Advisory Board in 2022.
Two of the letter’s other signatories, Russell Travers and Nicholas Rasmussen, were appointed to the Biden Administration as Deputy Homeland Security Advisor and Counterterrorism Coordinator for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), respectively; Travers served in his role from January 2021 to October 2021, while Rasmussen was appointed to his position last November.
Another signatory, David Buckley, was made staff director of the controversial and highly-politicized January 6th Committee in Congress, created by former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and dissolved in January after the Republicans gained the majority in the House of Representatives.
In his testimony, written under oath, Morrell confessed that the purpose of the letter was “to help Vice President Biden” in the 2020 election. Although there may not be any grounds for criminal charges, the revelation nevertheless reflects even further corruption and political bias within the American intelligence community in favor of Democrats. Blinken’s role in the scandal also seems to suggest that he was given his position as Secretary of State as a reward for orchestrating the letter in the first place.
