GOP Rep. Voices Support for Investigation into FBI Under New Majority

The top Republican member of the Oversight and Reform Committee of the United States House of Representatives has said that he would support using the committee to investigate accusations of corruption at the FBI if the GOP wins a new majority in Congress this November.

As reported by the New York Post, Congressman James Comer (R-Ky.), the ranking Republican on the Oversight Committee, told Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo that he would support the creation of an “outside commission” to probe the FBI.

”Obviously, it depends on who’s on the commission. But we have a huge problem with the FBI,” said Comer. “And the fact is, the American people have lost confidence in the FBI. It’s been politicized for at least six years now. And it’s going in the wrong direction.”

“I think the majority of the FBI agents in America want to do a good job. And we honestly need an FBI. But we don’t need the leadership we have now. They should resign,” Comer added. “They should be held accountable for wrongdoing. And we have got to repair and reform the FBI moving forward.”

However, Comer said that if he becomes chairman of the committee, his top priority would still be an investigation of Hunter Biden, the son of Joe Biden, for his numerous suspicious foreign business deals and other accusations of exploiting his father’s power and influence for personal and financial gain.

“You look at the facts with Hunter Biden and Jim Biden, the entire Biden crime family, as I would call it, they have been influence-peddling for a decade,” Comer continued, referring to Joe Biden’s younger brother.

Comer said that he and other Republicans on the committee are already working closely with FBI whistleblowers and other sources who are prepared to provide evidence in the likely event of an investigation, saying that the committee is “already working with whistle-blowers. I think we’re further along than a lot of people realize with respect to trying to hold people accountable in the FBI for wrongdoing.”

Comer concluded his interview by declaring that “We’re not going to let up. But we have to have subpoena power. So these Nov. 8 elections are crucial to be able to give the American people the answers they want.”
