A Washington Post report claiming that FBI agents were searching for classified documents related to nuclear weapons during their raid of former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, was met with extreme skepticism and derision on social media Thursday night.
The report comes as the Biden Department of Justice weathers massive political fallout due to the raid, which looked to many Americans like a weaponized DOJ going after Joe Biden’s primary political opponent.
“The FBI and DOJ look corrupt and stupid after the presser so they immediately leak some unfalsifiable nonsense to The Washington Post, and people just lap it up,” said a RedState reporter on Twitter. “It’s like they’ve learned nothing over the last seven years.”
Sources presumably from within the Department of Justice leaked to the Post that the agents were looking for classified information regarding nukes, among other materials. “The unusual search underscores deep concern among US officials about what information could fall into the wrong hands,” the Post reported.
People familiar with the investigation did not offer additional details about what type of information the agents were seeking, including whether it involved weapons belonging to the United States or some other nation.
In early June, DOJ officials traveled to Mar-a-Lago and served a grand jury subpoena to collect documents believed to contain classified information stashed in the basement of the resort. At one point, Trump himself reportedly stopped in to say hello and ‘make small talk’ before leaving again.
According to the Wall Street Journal, an informant, “someone familiar with the stored papers,” told investigators there were still more classified materials at the private club, beyond what Trump turned over to the National Archives earlier this year.
A few days later, federal investigators reportedly sent a letter to Trump’s staff asking them to secure the room in the basement where certain documents were stored.
Aides reportedly padlocked the area, as requested.
FBI agents on Monday took about a dozen boxes, according to Trump’s lawyer.
“My attorneys and representatives were cooperating fully, and very good relationships had been established,” Trump said on his social media platform Truth Social, Thursday. “The government could have had whatever they wanted, if we had it. They asked us to put an additional lock on a certain area – DONE! Everything was fine, better than that of most previous Presidents, and then, out of nowhere and with no warning, Mar-a-Lago was raided, at 6:30 in the morning, by VERY large numbers of agents, and even ‘safecrackers.’ They got way ahead of themselves. Crazy!”
Trump’s attorney, Christina Bobb, told Fox New host Laura Ingraham Thursday night that Trump’s people were watching on CCTV in New York as the FBI rifled through the former president’s study at Mar-a-Lago and cracked open his safe.
“I wasn’t able to witness it because I was pretty much relegated to the parking lot,” she said.

Conservatives on social media were extremely skeptical of the Washington Post report, Thursday night, viewing it as a CYA move after the Biden regime was caught in a political firestorm of its own making.
“They underestimated the fury from the American people over the Dems weaponizing the FBI against a conservative,” tweeted conservative commentator and podcast host Liz Wheeler. “So now they’re backtracking, claiming they were looking for nukes, so they never have to prove it because they can’t show us Top Secret classified info, right?”

Some pundits also noted that it seemed odd that it took the feds 18 months before they started tracking down the closely guarded materials.
Leaks to WaPo now claim "documents relating to nuclear weapons" were "sought" at Mar-a-Lago. No word on whether they were recovered. Taking this story at face value, the DOJ decided to wait a year and a half before tracking down the USA's most closely guarded nuclear secrets?

“Donald Trump, the president of the United States, stole classified nuclear documents after wrestling the steering wheel from a secret service agent, peeing on Russian prostitutes, and spitting on wounded veterans if you doubt this you’re an agent of Putin,” wrote Auron MacIntyre in a tweet mocking the never-ending barrage of rubbish that has been hurled at the former president over the years.

Virtually no one right of center seemed to buy the Washington Post’s story, Thursday night.
The FBI and DOJ look corrupt and stupid after the presser so they immediately leak some unfalsifiable nonsense to The Washington Post, and people just lap it up. It’s like they’ve learned nothing over the last seven years. Not a single thing.

Even the ridiculous “pee tape” lie was more believable than this dumb “nuclear weapon document” BS.

Now it’s about “NUKES!!!!”

Just a reminder, but @BillClinton actually LOST the nuclear codes during my tenure with him. We weren’t raided. https://t.co/39sBgRtw3T

If the Biden admin really thought Trump were on the verge of building his own nuclear arsenal, they would’ve secretly overnighted him a pallet of cash and released a bunch of prisoners of his choosing if he promised to not make any nukes until after Biden was out of office.

Clinton keeping classified material on a home server while Secretary of State is far more dangerous to national security and less justified than Trump, a former president, keeping physical copies of old documents after leaving the WH, as many of his predecessors also have done. https://t.co/eWD45Z28QE

Took them more than two days to come up with a scary enough sounding justification for why they did what they did.
These people are very nervous now. They really went too far this time and they know it. https://t.co/MI4JoFBUAZ

Precisely. All this tells us is that they’re desperately searching for a post-facto excuse for what they did https://t.co/PsKF82K5fx

Nuclear secrets rumor is giving me 2017 vibes.
The walls are closing in.

The "Nuclear Secrets" allegation destroys any credibility from the lefties about the Trump Raid.
1. No Nuke secrets therefore they're lying their asses off
2. There were Nuke secrets therefore the Govt. was insane to leave those at risk for 28 months!

In a statement Thursday night, Trump urged the DOJ to release all of the documents related to the FBI raid.
Not only will I not oppose the release of documents related to the unAmerican, unwarranted, and unnecessary raid and break-in of my home in Palm Beach, Florida, Mar-a-Lago, I am going a step further by ENCOURAGING the immediate release of those documents, even though they have been drawn up by radical left Democrats and possible future political opponents, who have a strong and powerful vested interest in attacking me, much as they have done for the last 6 years. My poll numbers are the strongest they have ever been, fundraising by the Republican Party is breaking all records, and midterm elections are fast approaching. This unprecedented political weaponization of law enforcement is inappropriate and highly unethical. The world is watching as our Country is being brought to a new low, not only on our border, crime, economy, energy, national security, and so much more, but also with respect to our sacred elections!
Release the documents now!
