Anti-CRT Activist Chris Rufo Declares War on Disney: ‘We Are Directly Targeting Their Public Reputation’

Christopher Rufo, the conservative activist who shined a spotlight on Critical Race Theory in schools, resulting in multiple states banning the toxic curricula, has set his sights on the Walt Disney Company after Disney publicly opposed the Parental Rights in Education bill, which Florida Governor Ron DeSantis recently signed into law.  The sensible anti-grooming law prohibits Florida educators from teaching or discussing sexual orientation and gender identity issues to school children in kindergarten through third grade.

In response to the legislation, Disney said in a statement: “Our goal as a company is for this law to be repealed by the legislature or struck down in the courts, and we remain committed to supporting the national and state organizations working to achieve that. We are dedicated to standing up for the rights and safety of LGBTQ+ members of the Disney family, as well as the LGBTQ+ community in Florida and across the country.”

“We are waging moral war against Disney,” Rufo tweeted on Wednesday. “We are directly targeting their public reputation. We are turning half of their customers against them.”

Disney executives have made it clear in recent days that they are committed to contributing to gender confusion and presenting inappropriate sexual narratives to young children.

The journalist obtained an internal video of a recent all-hands meeting at Disney about the Florida parental rights bill, and posted clips from the meeting onto Twitter.

The first clip features executive producer Latoya Raveneau bragging that her team has implemented a “not-at-all-secret gay agenda” and admitting that she regularly adds “queerness” to children’s programming.

Disney corporate president Karey Burke said during the meeting that “as the mother [of] one transgender child and one pansexual child,” she supports having “many, many, many LGBTQIA characters in our stories.” Burke said she wants a minimum of 50 percent of characters to be LGBTQIA and racial minorities.

Disney production coordinator Allen March said his team is committed to “exploring queer stories” and has created a “tracker” to make sure they are creating enough “gender nonconforming characters,” “canonical trans characters,” and “canonical bisexual characters.”

Disney diversity and inclusion manager Vivian Ware announced that the company is removing all mentions of “ladies,” “gentlemen,” “boys,” and “girls” in its theme parks in order to create “that magical moment” for children who do not identify with traditional gender roles.

“We don’t want to just assume because someone might be, in our interpretation, may be presenting as female, that they may not want to be called ‘princess,’” said Ware. “So let’s think differently about how do we really engage with our guests in a meaningful and inclusive way that makes it magical and memorable for everyone?”

In yet another clip, Disney’s activism partner Nadine Smith told LGBTQ employees that Gov. Ron DeSantis and his spokeswoman Christina Pushaw want to “erase you, “criminalize your existence,” and “take your kids.” Rufo called that “a wild conspiracy theory that Republicans want to kidnap gay people’s children.”

“A group of adults is very interested in your child’s sexuality,” Rufo wrote in a subsequent tweet adorned with red flags.

During an appearance on “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” Wednesday night, Rufo blasted Disney for “inject[ing] queerness” into its children’s programming.

The company is “deliberately trying to take programming that goes from even ages two to seven years old and inject queerness into that programming,” he told host Tucker Carlson. “They’re trying to really make all of their programs this left-wing gender ideology compatible.”

Rufo—a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute and a contributor to its magazine, City Journal—accused the Disney activists of liberal projection and gross hypocrisy.

“At the same time they’re falsely accusing Governor DeSantis of implementing a ‘don’t say gay’ policy—which is not true at all—they were systematically and simultaneously telling all of their park employees to eliminate the words ‘ladies,’ ‘gentlemen,’ ‘boys,’ and ‘girls,'” he said. “They’re projecting onto the governor what they themselves are doing. We’ve caught them on tape, and the evidence is damning.”

In recent years, the activism of woke Disney executives has shifted from obsessing about race to gender and sexual orientation, Rufo said.

“And these activist organizations essentially have taken moral power from within the company, and the executives who are really cowardly and craven individuals just cave any time that they want something,” he explained.

“And so all of these videos document that whatever these activists say, they’re now creating a tracking program for all Disney children’s content to find out exactly how many transgender, asexual and bisexual characters [whom] they’re peppering into the show, either in the foreground or the background,” he added.

Rufo said the effort seems like a “really kind of bizarre and creepy gender studies experiment on a college campus, but it’s being mainlined into children’s programming all over the world.”

Carlson noted that the behavior of the Disney executives resembled that of a sex offender.  “Normal people don’t sexualize underage children, period,” he said. “It seems like a threat.”

In reaction to the moral degradation of Disney and other children’s programming, Jeremy Boreing, the CEO of the Daily Wire, on Wednesday announced that the media company will launch a new project geared toward children featuring wholesome, age-appropriate material.  “Today I’m proud to tell you that we will be launching Daily Wire Kids,” Boreing said.
