Fox News is reporting that an armed protester in Lubbock, Texas was arrested and charged with making interstate threats after threatening to kill President Donald Trump and his supporters.
The protester, 25-year-old Emmanuel Quinones, participated in a Black Lives Matter protest while brandishing a loaded Smith & Wesson .223 semiautomatic rifle. Quinones refused to drop his weapon when ordered to do so by the police, only releasing it once the officer drew his own weapon, and was tackled by another protester.
Before being arrested, Quinones was heard shouting “this is a revolution” and “President Trump must die.” Quinones’ social media posts included his intentions “to off racists and MAGA [Make America Great Again] people” with his rifle. Upon being arrested, he told officers that he was at the protest to defend protesters from “these so-called MAGA instigators,” with no proof that any such “instigators” would be in attendance.
Quinones now faces federal charges that could land him in prison for up to five years. He will appear before U.S. Magistrate Judge D. Gordon Bryant for his first hearing next Tuesday.
