Iowa Republican Decries ‘Rainbow Jihad’ With Flying of Trans Flag over State Capitol

An Iowa Republican declared that the flying of a transgender flag over the state capitol was indicative of “political aggression” from the “Rainbow Jihad,” The Hill reports.

State Representative Skyler Wheeler (R-Iowa), who represents the 4th district, spoke to local news outlet The Iowa Standard to voice his discontent with the decision, calling it “another way that the Rainbow Jihad continues to give those of us who don’t agree with them a finger in the eye and push their beliefs on us.”

Wheeler further declared that “flags that fuel divisions among Iowans” should not be flown over the capitol. Fellow State Representative Dean Fisher (R-Iowa) agreed, and vowed to “file legislation next session to limit which flags could be flown at the Capitol.”
