The mainstream media in general and the commentariat in particular are obsessed with Donald Trump! But don’t take my word for it. Here’s Nicholas Kristof in the New York Times:
In America today, it’s all Trump, all the time. We’re collectively addicted to him. The nonstop scandals and outrages suck us in; they amount to Trump porn.
Huh. No kidding. Didn’t we know this two years ago? Kristof goes on to point out some of the stories the press is either missing or downplaying in its preoccupation with the president. There’s probably an available remedy, but that would require the press to stop seeing itself as part of #TheResistance—and where’s the glory in that?
