On the face of it, there really is nothing remotely funny about watching the destruction of our country in real-time.
There is no humor in spending more at the pump or grocery store on basic household items, as the White House pumps trillions of dollars into an overheating economy and destroys our energy sector while interest rates soar and real wages are stagnant.
There is no joy in watching once beautiful American cities rot before our very eyes, as leftist politicians allow them to turn into dirty crime-infested hellholes, where CVSs are emptied out like a children’s candy store in the name of “equity.”
There is nothing remotely funny about having our border wide open, as millions upon millions of illegal immigrants pour into our country and flock to decaying urban areas that do not have the resources to accommodate them.
There is no humor in watching the president of the most powerful country in the world shuffle his feet, slur his speeches and stumble around like a blithering idiot every time he graces us with his presence.
There is nothing hilarious about the current occupant of the White House trying to throw what appears to be his leading political opponent in jail for nonexistent crimes while his cronies and the legacy media cover up his own family’s corruption.
Nothing is funny about a Chinese spy balloon taking an aerial tour of the entire continental U.S. like they’re the Swiss Family Robinsons on vacation.
I fail to see the humor as cocaine “mysteriously” turns up at the White House as though the West Wing is now some sort of backstage Woodstock reunion tour for the late Jimi Hendrix.
And yet, at the risk of blowing my credibility, if one takes a step back from all of the chaos and somehow puts aside all of the real-world consequences of these travesties, there is something uniquely humorous about all of this, and dare I say, even positive.
Over the last several years, the Left, which, as everyone knows, includes the corporate media and every institution in between, from the FBI to academia to professional sports to the corporate boardrooms, have shown us exactly who they are. They have now fully exposed themselves, not only to be deeply corrupt, cynical, hypocritical and incompetent but to actually be quite funny.
If Mel Brooks wanted to make a comedy about a president who doesn’t remember where he is half the time or about a vice president who speaks like Yoda, albeit with far less profound pronouncements, no one in Hollywood would buy it because it would be too absurd.
Imagine if the late Howard Cosell, famous for “telling it like it is,” nasally voice and all, were still on the airwaves for ABC Wide World of Sports. Instead of his most memorable line being, “Down Goes Frazier, Down Goes Frazier, Down Goes Frazier,” he would now be required to say, “Say Her Name passes it to Black Lives Matter, who throws an alley-oop to I Can’t Breathe.”
Just when we thought things couldn’t get any more ridiculous, the Left never ceases to disappoint.
This past weekend the “sports journalists” turned activists at ESPN were fawning over a U.S. women’s soccer team that was humiliated and sent home by Sweden in the fourth round, their earliest defeat ever from the World Cup, after Megan Rapinoe, who can best be described as an angrier adult version of Greta Thunberg, badly missed a penalty kick.
Maybe from now on, the last-place finisher at future Kentucky Derby races should be declared the winner, so long as the jockey is a transgender Somalian immigrant who hates America.
And as if ESPN’s admiration for Team USA’s pathetic performance wasn’t embarrassing enough, we then were treated to a tribute video to Megan Rapinoe, in which we were told that Rapinoe kneels before our National Anthem and our flag because “she loves America.”
Yes, that’s an actual quote.
Maybe, I’m just a racist, sexist, bigoted pig, but I happen to find humor in everything the Left finds to be outraged about.
