Awakening from the Biden Slumber

To get a feel for how fast Joe Biden has destroyed the United States, pretend you went to sleep on Election Night 2020 and woke up the morning of the first anniversary of Biden’s inauguration, January 20, 2022.

The Economy. When you went to sleep, Donald Trump’s reelection looked pretty certain. When you awaken 14 months later you are stunned to see that “Basement Joe” is in the White House.

Trump’s economy was rebounding when you went to bed. Biden’s economy has stalled. There is the highest inflation in 40 years—officially more than 7 percent, but closer to 14 percent when you use the historic Consumer Price Index. There are still more than 10 million unfilled jobs and Team Biden is encouraging people to remain out of the labor force.

And the icing on the cake is that Biden denies that some grocery store shelves are empty, despite many consumer reports and a documented supply chain crisis. It’s enough to make you want to crawl back into bed.

Border Insecurity. When you began your slumber, the border was under operational control, with a slightly trending growth in illegal immigration due to Biden’s campaign promise of an open border. When you awake, you find an avalanche of more than 2 million people have come across our southern border illegally.

Along with this flood of illegal aliens from more than 140 different countries, we have taken in tens of thousands of Afghan refugees without vetting them, seen record numbers of opioid related deaths because of drugs pouring across the border, and interdicted a record number of foreign terrorists attempting to sneak into the United States.

The border nightmare has been produced by Joe Biden’s policies.

American Indoctrination. While you were sleeping, parents across the nation discovered that schools were indoctrinating their children with racist, anti-American curricula. Parents were outraged and began showing up at school board meetings to voice concerns.

School boards responded by telling parents to shove off. They even had parents arrested. Biden felt the need to get into the game, so his team encouraged Attorney General Merrick Garland to organize federal police to spy on these civic-minded parents, and to compare them to “domestic terrorists.” Garland’s crew devised a terrorist watch list against the parents.

While Biden persisted in his support for the radical indoctrination of children and the left-wing program of Garland, Republican Glenn Youngkin made the issue the cornerstone of his successful campaign to become Virginia’s governor. When your alarm clock sounded, you were as surprised that Virginia had a Republican governor as you were that Biden was in the Oval Office.

International Decline. When you started your rest, the international embarrassment was that Hunter Biden had taken payoffs from a Ukrainian energy company and Chinese officials without being investigated.

U.S. strength internationally was reflected in realities that North Korea had slowed its nuclear ambitions, Chinese President Xi Jinping had reduced his bellicosity regarding Taiwan, Iran was weakened economically, and Russia had backed away from the Ukrainian border. At that time, President Trump was planning a methodical withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Surprise! When you awoke there were more than 100,000 Russian soldiers on the border of Ukraine. Biden told the world last week that a “minor incursion” by Russia is acceptable and has now readied thousands of American troops to respond.

North Korea has reengaged its nuclear program and has renewed missile launches over Japan.

China has made its immediate intention to take over Taiwan very clear.

Iran has threatened to send terrorists to the U.S. homeland—a real possibility given our porous southern border—and has renewed its nuclear program as well.

In the meantime, Americans and American allies remain in Afghanistan after a disastrous and deadly withdrawal, and the Taliban owns the country and U.S. military equipment, ammunition, and weaponry that Biden left behind.

And, over the weekend after you woke up, the Biden Administration told Americans in the Ukraine that they wouldn’t be able to get them out, either.

If those issues alone greeted you after your 14-month nap, you would likely prefer to climb back into bed. Sadly, it’s just part of the crises Biden has fostered during your sleep. There isn’t enough space to talk about the attempt of Joe Biden and his congressional cronies to nationalize elections. Nor the time to discuss the record rise in violent crime in more than a dozen cities due to Democratic policies. Or how the accelerated abuse of federal protection of Big Tech has produced increasing censorship of voices contrary to the Biden program.

The happy news for you is that you slept through the authoritarian lockdowns, mask and vaccine mandates, almost. You missed the Delta variant and have awakened to the less severe Omicron variant of COVID. Americans want to get back to normal, but the medical bureaucracy and the Left are requiring multiple mandatory vaccines in order for you to keep your job.

Yes, if you were like Rip Van Winkle, your slumber brought no rest, and a disaster awaited your awakening.

Americans can no longer rest. Biden’s authoritarian policies have awakened many. We have to make our voices heard in 2022.
