Politico reports on the personal and professional woes of career bureaucrats—conditioned as they are to believe that their expertise and prejudices should, by right, govern the rest of us—now discovering that the voters and their political choices actually matter. This is very distressing, disorienting, and depressing for them. It’s not how things are supposed to work for the permanent governing class. This is not what they signed up for or how they imagined their lives would be. In fact, it’s just no fun to be a Washington elite anymore.  Boo-freaking-hoo.
