I watched the entire torturous District 109 School Board Meeting about the district’s decision to sexually integrate locker rooms and restrooms in deference to the disordered desires of a confused cross-dressing boy.
Judging from the meeting, Deerfield is awash in ideological uniformity, ignorance, intolerance, and hatred—all from leftists, a disproportionate number of whom were bossy, white, leftist women.
After announcing their pronouns, speaker after speaker demonized those who believe biological sex has meaning and should be respected in private spaces. The leftist speakers referred to those who critique leftist gender theories as hateful, ignorant, bullying, cruel, and exploitative. They referred to cross-sex impersonation as authenticity.
Believing sexed bodies, created by God, are meaningful and worthy of respect does not constitute hatred of anyone. Believing girls, boys, women, and men are entitled to the spaces created to honor and respect their sexed bodies does not constitute hatred of anyone.
Nothing is less authentic than pretending to be the sex one is not.
So, who was there to give advice and marching orders to normal parents of normal children who don’t want to share locker rooms with opposite-sex peers?
Bearded ladies spoke, including one who used her young child as a prop. Crossdressing adult men spoke. Angry cross-dressing minors spoke. A homosexual pastor of the heretical local Unitarian church spoke. Activists from “trans” propaganda organizations spoke. And speaker after speaker read testimonies from anonymous Deerfield parents of “trans” kids, all of which testimonies were prefaced by nearly identical introductions suggesting some sort of organized plan. The identical introductions went like this:
I support District 109, our teachers, the staff, the Human Rights Campaign, and trans rights. Tonight, I’m here to share the words of another Deerfield parent who would like their voice to be heard on this matter but wants to protect their family’s privacy.
One wonders who wrote that script for the Stepford Wives to recite.
Some of the leftist speakers claimed that “trans” people constitute an eensy weensy, itty bitty percentage of the population. From last night’s meeting, it would appear they all live in Deerfield.
And they demand all minor girls be willing to share locker rooms with opposite-sex peers or use another privacy space to change. One leftist speaker actually said, “Trans girls are girls.” Nope, they’re not. “Trans” girls are, in reality, boys. And if these boys don’t want to change in boys’ locker rooms, they can use another private space to change.
Several leftists trotted out the ignorant and tired race analogy, suggesting that sex-segregated locker rooms and restrooms are analogous to racial discrimination in housing (or eating at lunch counters, drinking at water fountains, or riding public buses).
Again, for the obtuse:
1. Race is 100% heritable, in all cases immutable, and has no behavioral implications that are legitimate objects of moral assessment. Cross-sex impersonation, on the other hand, is not 100% heritable, is in some cases mutable, and is constituted by subjective feelings and volitional acts that are legitimate objects of moral assessment.
2. Race or skin color is irrelevant to housing, bus-riding, drinking water, and eating at lunch counters. In contrast, biological sex is central to privacy concerns related to undressing or going to the bathroom. In fact, biological sex is the reason we have any sex-segregated locker rooms and bathrooms.
If, as leftists claim, sex-based locker room and bathroom policies are equivalent to separate drinking fountains for blacks and whites, then surely we should eliminate every sex-segregated private space everywhere. No more girls or women’s locker rooms, showers, bathrooms, saunas, or steam rooms. After all, we would never tolerate even one race-restricted drinking fountain.
Many of the leftists made the absurd absolutist claim that no “trans” girl—that is, cross-dressing boy—threatens the safety of any girl in any girls’ locker room. Tell that to the girl in Oklahoma who, in 2022, was severely beaten in a school bathroom by a boy who was pretending to be a girl.
But as serious as the risk of predation is, it is not the foundational issue. The foundational issue is whether biological sex has meaning, particularly with regard to undressing and engaging in intimate bodily functions. Girls and women have an intrinsic human right to be free of the presence of males in female private spaces, even if those males have been chemically and surgically castrated.
Privacy rights derive from physical embodiment as male or female. The intrinsic human right of girls to be free of the presence of boys in spaces where they undress or go to the bathroom is not abrogated by a boy’s dislike of his maleness.
One woman told an anecdote about her now-adult “trans” child who used opposite-sex private spaces for the entirety of his or her years in Deerfield schools, and, according to this mom, no one cared. Really? She knows the feelings of every student who had to share a restroom or locker room with her child?
But even if this mother is omniscient and not a single student cared, so what? Many parents would be deeply troubled to learn that every child in Deerfield schools has been conditioned to believe that biological sex is irrelevant in private spaces.
Leftist speakers took umbrage when one of the very few conservative speakers said that transgenderism doesn’t exist. One leftist even proclaimed from on high that “transgenderism” isn’t a word.
Sorry, tranny, despite your best efforts to invent and destroy words, you don’t own language. No one has an ethical obligation to use false pronouns or nonsense terms like “chestfeeding man.” No one has an ethical obligation to refrain from using “transgenderism” or “tranny.” No one has an obligation to submit to your definitions of “safety,” “respect,” or “authenticity.”
Everyone knows there exist people who wish they weren’t the sex they are. Everyone knows there are people who try, through clothing, hairstyles, cross-sex hormone doping, and surgery, to pass as the sex they are not. What the speaker meant is that no one is actually born in the wrong body. That claim is a silly and meaningless notion invented by “trans” cultists to add ontological weight to their disordered feelings.
I grew up in Deerfield. I attended Walden Elementary School, Shepard Middle School, and Deerfield High School. I married a man who grew up in Deerfield. We raised our four kids in Deerfield. After watching this school board meeting, I am deeply thankful that none of my kids wanted to return to Deerfield. I would not want any of my grandchildren raised in a community with such a dearth of ideological diversity, a community so ignorant about sexuality and gender, and one so patently full of contempt for the values and beliefs of those who disagree with them about their gender superstitions.
If I still lived in Deerfield, I would put my house on the market and hightail it out of this hornet’s nest of bitter, intolerant leftists.
