The End Is Near: Trump’s Draft Budget Takes Aim At Climate Change Research Labs

Climate change researchers may soon be working with fewer taxpayer dollars due to the suggested closures of a number of climate change labs under President Trump’s near-final budget draft for 2026.

CNN reports that it has obtained internal documents indicating that the Trump administration plans to eliminate the research arm of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) as well as closing a number of other NOAA offices and weather and climate labs.

The documents obtained by CNN represent discussions between NOAA and the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and states that the proposed budget draft would “eliminate all funding for climate, weather, and ocean laboratories and cooperative institutes.”

Climate change advocates have expressed panic over the proposed cuts, claiming that the plan to reduce NOAA’s overall budget by more than 27% and cutting the research office’s funding by roughly 75% will allegedly cripple the agriculture industry and halt research on deadly weather.

However, not all climate research is subsidized by taxpayers and climate change advocates tend to conflate “climate” research with “climate change” to justify continuing to receive billions of dollars in federal funding.

According to the Daily Wire the U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP), which receives more than $5 billion a year and produces a National Climate Assessment every four years, outsources much of that research to the liberal consulting firm ICF that hires scientists to spread climate change doom.

The Daily Wire reports that, “By providing all staff for the USGCRP, a federal agency, the ICF exerts undue influence over the global change narrative and priorities presented by the federal government”

The National Climate Assessment is used by Congress and other agencies, down to the local level, to justify regulations and funding decisions for various climate action plans and climate change goals.

For scientists who have secured a lucrative position as climate change researchers, the Trump administration’s recommended spending reductions are causing alarm.

But for the American taxpayers who are tired of being propagandized about climate change hysteria with their own tax dollars, the budget cuts represent some welcome relief.

  1. This is all very well, but what about the Jobs of the people working at ICF? And what about the people working for NGOs that get grants from ICF? And what about the children of powerful Democratic politicians working as interns at ICF and its NGOs?
