Tesla Stock Rebounds Monday Amid Democrats’ ‘Take Down Tesla’ Campaign

Tesla (TSLA) stock rebounded Monday, less than a week after Governor Tim Walz (D-Minn.) celebrated the stock’s decline.

Amid the left’s “Take Down Tesla” campaign, the company had seen nine consecutive weeks of decline, as well as a slew of vandalism and firebomb attacks. Democrats have put the Electric Car company in its crosshairs to protest Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s role in President Donald Trump’s administration.

Monday morning, Tesla stock soared to 273.40—up nearly 20 percent in the past five days.

Late Thursday, Tesla held an all hands on deck company meeting, according to Investor’s Business Daily.

Chief Executive Elon Musk took the stage to once more tout the company’s long-term strategy around robotaxis, artificial intelligence and robotics, including the expected demand around Tesla’s Optimus humanoid robot.

Musk’s message was clear during the all-hands meeting: “What I’m saying is, hang onto your stock.”

Governor Walz last week clumsily attempted to join the left’s campaign to “Take Down” Tesla when he told a town hall audience in Wisconsin that he checks the value of the company’s stock whenever he needs “a little boost”—even though the state of Minnesota owns more than 1.8 million shares of Tesla stock in its retirement fund.

Those shares are reportedly owned and managed by the Minnesota State Board of Investment (SBI)—a board chaired by Walz.

“Some of you know this, on the iPhone, they’ve got that little stock app,” Walz told his Democrat audience.  “I added Tesla to it to give me a little boost during the day — $225 and dropping. And if you own one, we’re not blaming you. You can take dental floss and pull the Tesla thing off.”

Walz has been conducting town halls in red districts across the U.S. as he considers a potential 2028 presidential bid.

“I’m not a vindictive person or anything but I take great pleasure in the fact that this guy’s life is going to get very, very difficult,” Walz said of Musk.

The Minnesota governor was immediately mocked for his gaffe,  which he has since walked back.

Investor Kevin O’Leary slammed the governor during a Thursday appearance on CNN, calling his comments “beyond stupid.”

“That poor guy [Walz] didn’t check his portfolio and his own pension plan for the state,” O’Leary said. “It’s beyond stupid what he did.”

“What’s the matter with that guy?” O’Leary added. “He doesn’t check the well-being of his own constituents.”

Musk also mocked Walz on X over his failed 2024 vice presidential campaign.

“Sometimes when I need a little boost, I look at the @JDVance portrait in the @WhiteHouse and thank the Lord,” Musk wrote last Wednesday.

Tesla dealerships, charging stations and individual owners across the U.S. have been targeted in a wave of vandalism and firebomb attacks in recent weeks, amid the left’s ongoing campaign to punish Musk for his efforts to eliminate waste, fraud and abuse in the federal government as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Walz told a town hall crowd in Rochester, Minnesota on Saturday that he was just making a “joke” when he said he enjoyed seeing the company his state has invested in suffer.

“This guy bugs me in a way that’s probably unhealthy,” Walz said of Musk. “I have to be careful about being a smartass. I was making a joke. These people have no sense of humor. They are the most literal people.”
