The Lincoln Project’s Rick Wilson has apparently completed his transition from Republican strategist to full-fledged Antifa booster.
In an unhinged rant Wednesday, Wilson appeared to egg on left-wing violence against Tesla to punish the company’s cofounder Elon Musk.
Wilson’s Substack post is titled “Kill Tesla, Save the Country” and features the unsubtle subheading: “Elon has a weak spot. Attack.” For anyone who didn’t catch his drift, his post included an image of a Tesla cybertruck engulfed in flames.
Using language indistinguishable from that of the anarchist website “It’s Going Down,” Wilson stridently described Tesla as “a bank for fascists,” evoking in the reader’s mind an image of a sinister car company run by a feverish and out of control Nazi.
“Tesla is no longer just a car company; it’s a bank for fascists,” Wilson began, going on to describe Musk’s company as “a goose-stepping hedge fund bankrolling the political fever dreams of Elon Musk and his DOGE dreams of controlling the ruins of the American government as he becomes Earth’s first trillionaire and then the Emperor of Mars.”
Wilson spent Wednesday defending his rant and accusing critics of not reading his article, arguing he did not literally advocate for antifa violence against Tesla, (notwithstanding his call to “kill” and “attack” Tesla, and the image of a Tesla in flames).
Instead, all he really called for, allegedly, was merely the financial destruction of the company’s owner.
“Musk’s power and wealth are inseparable from Tesla’s absurdly inflated stock price,” he wrote. “If the Tesla bubble pops, so does Elon’s ability to keep throwing money around like a drunken Russian oligarch in a Macao casino.”
Musk reacted to Wilson’s article on X by commenting simply: “What a psycho.”
Later on, Wilson was suspended for 30 days from from the platform. [Update: On Thursday X made the suspension permanent.].
Notably, Wilson posted a gleeful tweet in 2022 celebrating the one year anniversary of President Trump’s unjust permanent ban from Twitter in January 2021.
“Now he’s crying about being locked out of his X account by Elon Musk for 30 days after literally supporting and encouraging domestic terrorism,” X Account “Gain of Fauci” noted.
Wilson is known for his bombastic and threatening rants, including his call in 2015 for fellow travelers to “put a bullet in Donald Trump” during an appearance on MSNBC.
His dog whistle to lefty street agitators however seems a bit gratuitous given the recent spate of domestic terrorist attacks targeting Tesla and Tesla owners from coast to coast. Meanwhile, antifa have escalated their attacks.
An antifa website called “Dogequest” has even published the identities of Tesla owners nationwide, MXM reported, “exposing names, addresses, and phone numbers on an interactive map.”
The site, which appears to be targeting Tesla drivers due to CEO Elon Musk’s ties with the Trump administration, also features a Molotov cocktail as a cursor. The operators claim they will only remove personal information if the individual provides proof they have sold their Tesla.
Attorney General Pam Bondi said in a statement late Tuesday that those who attack Teslas are committing “domestic terrorism.”
“The swarm of violent attacks on Tesla property is nothing short of domestic terrorism,” Bondi stated.
She added that the Department of Justice has already charged “several perpetrators” for attacking Teslas, including in cases carrying five-year mandatory minimum sentences.
“We will continue investigations that impose severe consequences on those involved in these attacks, including those operating behind the scenes to coordinate and fund these crimes,” the attorney general said.
Bondi made clear on Fox News Wednesday that the Trump administration has made finding and punishing the perpetrators a top priority.
“We are coming after you, we will find you, and if you are an organized group funding this, we will find you too,” she said. “You better look out and you better stop it.”
