A shocking new report claims that the majority of documents signed by Joe Biden during his presidency were signed with an autopen apparatus, reviving concerns over whether or not Biden himself was ever truly in charge of his administration.
As reported by Fox News, the claims were made by the Oversight Project, a branch of the Heritage Foundation that specializes in scrutinizing government in the name of transparency and accountability. The report was titled “Whoever Controlled the Autopen Controlled the Presidency.”
“We gathered every document we could find with Biden’s signature over the course of his presidency,” the report stated. “All used the same autopen signature except for the announcement that the former President was dropping out of the race last year.”
The group then posted three photographic examples of the alleged automatic signatures on X, featuring two executive orders contrasted with Biden’s announcement that he was dropping out of the 2024 race. The first two signatures appeared to be the exact same despite being signed in 2022 and 2024, respectively, including a straight line followed by “R. Biden Jr.” But the signature on his withdrawal announcement differed noticeably from the other two in its overall appearance, being visibly less legible.
Biden’s mental acuity and overall fitness for the job of being president were a major topic for the entirety of his four years in office. Numerous instances of Biden appearing to lose his train of thought, staring off into the distance, or wandering around aimlessly went viral on social media with widespread mockery. He had previously set the record for the oldest person to ever be elected to the presidency, with his physical and mental decline being apparent compared to his time in the Senate.
Democrats, led by Biden himself, initially dismissed these concerns up until his first and only debate against Donald Trump in June of 2024. With Biden’s performance universally being considered a disaster, his own party turned against him and called on him to withdraw. After some resistance, he finally dropped out in July, endorsing his Vice President Kamala Harris as his successor. Harris became the nominee and went on to lose to President Trump in the general election.
