President Trump Threatens to Cut Off Funding for Colleges that Allow ‘Illegal Protests’

On Tuesday, President Donald Trump declared that he will move to shut down federal funding for any colleges that “allow illegal protests” on campus.

As reported by The Hill, President Trump made the announcement in a post on his Truth Social account, saying that “all Federal Funding will STOP for any College, School, or University that allows illegal protests. Agitators will be imprisoned/or permanently sent back to the country from which they came.”

“American students will be permanently expelled or, depending on on the crime, arrested,” he continued. “NO MASKS! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”

One day prior to the president’s post, several federal agencies announced that they would be conducting reviews of all contracts and grants with Columbia University, in the aftermath of the college’s lengthy period of anti-Semitic riots on campus. Most recently, rioters at Barnard College, an affiliate of Columbia, assaulted an employee as they tried to break into a university building.

President Trump had previously signed an executive order that would expedite the deportation of foreign students who engage in anti-Semitic violence. Many of the riots on college campuses across the country have been largely coordinated and carried out by foreign students.

Ever since the Islamic terrorist group Hamas first began its war against Israel on October 7th, 2023, anti-Israel demonstrations have broken out on college campuses throughout the United States, with many turning to violence against Jewish students. Columbia University was the site of the most egregious displays of violence, including rioters who stormed a building and tried to occupy it before finally being removed by campus security.
