Rubio Signs Deal to Expedite $4B in Arms Withheld from Israel by Biden

On Saturday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that he would sign a measure to expedite the delivery of about $4 billion in American military aid to Israel, after the aid had been withheld from the American ally under the Biden Administration.

As Fox News reports, the $4 billion marks the latest significant shipment of aid to Israel since President Donald Trump returned to office. Under the second Trump Administration, at least $12 billion in aid has been approved for Israel as it continues fighting against the Islamic terrorist group Hamas.

“The decision to reverse the Biden Administration’s partial arms embargo, which wrongly withheld a number of weapons and ammunition from Israel, is yet another sign that Israel has no greater ally in the White House than President Trump,” said Secretary Rubio in a statement.

“This important decision coincides with President Trump’s repeal of a Biden-era memorandum which had imposed baseless and politicized conditions on military assistance to Israel at a time when our close ally was fighting a war of survival on multiple fronts against Iran and terror proxies,” Rubio added.

Two days prior to Rubio’s announcement, the State Department announced that it had cleared the way for a possible sale of $3 billion in weapons to Israel; the package would include 35,500 MK 84 and BLU-117 bombs, alongside 4,000 Predator warheads. If the deal is approved, these weapons are expected to arrive in Israel by 2026.

The day before President Trump’s second inauguration on January 20th, Hamas announced a temporary ceasefire deal that included the release of multiple Israeli and American hostages. The move was in response to repeated threats from President-elect Trump, who vowed that there would be “hell to pay” if the hostages were not released before his inauguration.
