The Senate voted Thursday to confirm Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s nomination to the helm of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and will soon vote on Kash Patel’s nomination for FBI Director.
Kennedy faced fierce opposition from Big Pharma-funded politicians on both the right and left, but after enough pressure was brought to bear on Republican senators, he was able to sail to confirmation on a 52 to 48 vote. Former Senate Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), who has reportedly received over $922,000 in campaign contributions from pharmaceutical companies, was an unsurprising no vote.
“In my lifetime, I’ve watched vaccines save millions of lives from devastating diseases across America and around the world,” McConnell said in a statement explaining his vote. “I will not condone the re-litigation of proven cures, and neither will millions of Americans who credit their survival and quality of life to scientific miracles.”
RFK Jr. withstood hostile and at times unhinged attacks from Democrat senators during his first confirmation hearing last month, with ranking member Ron Wyden (D-Ore.)— who has taken in nearly $352,000 in pharmaceutical money—accusing him of embracing “conspiracy theories, quacks, and charlatans, especially when it comes to the safety and efficacy of vaccines.”
Kennedy has remained focused on his unifying “Make America Healthy Again” (MAHA) agenda and pushed back on media reports that he is an anti-vaccine conspiracy theorist for asking questions.
“When I met with President Trump last summer, I discovered he has more than just ‘concern’ for this tragic situation, but genuine care,” he said in his opening statement for the January 30 hearing.
President Trump has committed to restoring the American Dream, and 77 million Americans delivered a mandate to do just that – due in part to his embrace and elevation of the Make America Healthy Again movement.
This movement – led largely by MAHA moms from every state, is one of the most powerful and transcendent I’ve ever seen. I have promised President Trump that if confirmed I will do everything in my power to put the health of Americans back on track.
Kennedy stated that he had prayed to God daily for the last 20-years in hopes he would one day be put in a position like Secretary of HHS.
Below is Tucker Carlson’s heartfelt tribute to Kennedy, for persisting in saying what he believed “in the face of opposition that no politician had ever seen.:
President Trump has tapped Heart surgeon and television personality Dr. Mehmet Oz to lead the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, which is part of HHS. A date for his confirmation hearing is not yet set.
Meanwhile, Kash Patel was voted out of Committee Thursday to advance his nomination to the Senate floor, where he very likely to be confirmed next week. Democrats in the Senate used procedural motions to force a delay until next week.
Update:
At RFJ Jr’s swearing in ceremony, Trump said he believes his new HHS Secretary will do a “phenomenal job.”
And Kennedy had high praise for the president: “A lot of people told me I should not trust President Trump,” he said. “And that I should get our agreement in writing. But we just had a handshake. And every single thing President Trump has promised me, he has done. He has done more than he said. I believe President Trump is a revolutionary President. We need a hero on a white horse, and President Trump is that hero.”
