AG Pam Bondi Vows Prosecution for Insiders who Leak ICE Raid Information

On Wednesday, Attorney General Pam Bondi declared that the Department of Justice (DOJ) would pursue charges against any government insiders who leak information on upcoming immigration raids.

According to the Daily Caller, information has been leaking about planned raids by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), tipping off illegal aliens to their arrival and potentially endangering the lives of ICE officers. Border Czar Tom Homan said on Monday that the leaks could be coming from within the FBI, and that in addition to facing jail time, leakers would lose their government pensions.

“It’s only a matter of time before we walk into a place where there’s going to be a bad guy who doesn’t care,” said Homan in an interview. “He’s going to be sitting and waiting for the officers to show up and ambush them. This is not a game.”

When asked at a press conference about the leaks and their possible origins, Attorney General Bondi said that “the great men and women in law enforcement standing behind me today…must be protected, and anytime anyone leaks or tips off anything regarding a pending investigation, that jeopardizes lives.”

“You’re telling a bad guy what’s about to happen,” Bondi continued. “It could jeopardize the lives of all the men and women in law enforcement. We will not stand for it. We will find you. We’re going to investigate it, no matter what agency it came from. We don’t know for certain. We have an open investigation, so I can’t talk about it in detail, but we will do everything in our power to hold you accountable and it is a crime, and you will be prosecuted when we find you.”

In the most recent example, the Los Angeles Times reported on a planned ICE raid in Los Angeles that was aiming to be a “large scale” operation. As a result of such leaks, members of the notoriously violent Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua were able to evade authorities.
