AG Pam Bondi Announces Charges Against NY Governor Kathy Hochul, State AG Leticia James For Failing to Enforce Immigration Laws

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi announced Wednesday that the Department of Justice has filed charges against New York Governor Kathy Hochul, state Attorney General Leticia James, state Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) commissioner Mark Schroeder, and the state of New York for failing to enforce federal immigration laws.

“You will be held accountable if you do not follow federal law,” Bondi said.

Bondi made the announcement, flanked by law enforcement and “angel mom” Tammy Nobles, whose 20 year old daughter was murdered by an illegal MS-13 gang member from El Salvador.

“This is a new DOJ. We are taking steps to protect American citizens and angel moms,” Bondi told reporters during her first press conference as President Donald Trump’s attorney general.  “New York has chosen to prioritize illegal aliens over American citizens, Bondi added. “It stops, it stops today.

James, who is also attempting to defy Trump’s executive order prohibiting sex-change procedures on children, was stripped of her security clearance earlier this week.

Bondi said current “green light” laws in New York are preventing law enforcement from checking the identities of illegal aliens they pull over.

“Law enforcement officers do not have access to their background,” she said, adding that the policy puts their lives in danger because “they have no idea who they’re dealing with.”

“Violent criminals, gang members, drug traffickers, human smugglers will no longer terrorize the American people,” Bondi declared. “It’s over, it ends, and we are coming after you.”

New York is the second sanctuary state to be sued by the Trump Justice Department.

“Strike one,” Bondi said, was the state of Illinois, the city of Chicago, and Cook County, which the DOJ sued in federal court last week for obstructing Trump’s immigration enforcement policies.

The AG delivered a message to other blue states that insist on continuing their sanctuary policies.

“If you are a state not complying with federal law, you’re next,” she said. “Get ready.”
