Poll: Voters Trust President Trump More than Mainstream Media

A new survey shows that the American people are more likely to trust President Donald Trump than the mainstream media, despite the media’s constant attacks against the 45th and 47th president.

As reported by Breitbart, the poll from Rasmussen Reports asked respondents, “Who do you trust more?” A plurality of 44% chose President Trump, while just 41% chose the media. The remaining 15% were “unsure” of who to trust.

When broken down along specific demographics, the numbers lean even more heavily in Trump’s favor. Voters between the ages of 18 and 39 trust the president by a 13-point margin over the media, with 45% choosing President Trump and just 32% choosing the media. Voters over the age of 65 choose Trump over the media, 48% to 42%. The only age group that prefers the media over Trump is those between the ages of 40 and 64, with 46% preferring the media and 41% preferring Trump.

Along racial lines, Hispanic voters prefer Trump as a source of news by 20 points, with 51% siding with the president while 31% prefer the media. The only ethnic group that chose the mainstream media over Trump is black Americans, with 52% choosing the media and 25% choosing Trump.

Trump’s surprisingly high numbers with young voters can be seen as a reflection of his preference for social media, rather than traditional media, for communicating with the American people. During the final months of the 2024 campaign, the former and current president utilized a strategy referred to by some as a “podcast blitz,” appearing on multiple livestreams and podcasts with popular influencers and social media personalities; these included Adin Ross, Theo Von, the Nelk Boys, Logan Paul, and Joe Rogan.

The survey sample consisted of 1,245 likely voters and was conducted between January 21 and January 23.
