Over 3,500 Illegal Aliens Arrested in Trump’s First Week in Office

On Monday, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), announced that collaborative efforts by multiple agencies had led to nearly 1,200 arrests in just one day, bringing the total for President Donald Trump’s first week in office to over 3,500.

As reported by Axios, ICE data posted on X confirmed that there have been over 3,552 arrests of illegal aliens since Thursday. ICE also reported its daily totals for the week, confirming 538 arrests on Thursday, 593 on Friday, 286 on Saturday, 956 on Sunday, and 1,179 on Monday.

By contrast, the average number of illegals arrested on a daily basis under Joe Biden was about 310.

President Trump had repeatedly vowed on the campaign trail to carry out the largest mass deportation operation in American history. Immediately after being sworn back into office on January 20th, he signed multiple executive orders to take swift action on the border, including declaring a national emergency, reinstating the “Remain in Mexico” policy, ending the practice of “catch and release,” and resuming construction of the southern border wall.

The Trump Administration and congressional Republicans have also pledged to crack down on so-called “sanctuary” jurisdictions, including cities and states, which refuse to cooperate with federal immigration authorities. House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) said in a statement on Monday that several sanctuary cities will face congressional investigations, including Boston, Chicago, Denver, and New York City.
