Strange new developments in the New Year’s Day terrorist attacks have emerged in the past 24 hours, including a report that the active-duty Green Beret behind the Las Vegas cyber truck explosion, had a manifesto with information about the mysterious drone sightings on the East Coast.
While reports indicate the New Orleans truck ramming suspect was inspired by ISIS, the Green Beret’s motive remains unclear.
On December 29, just a few days before the New Year’s Day incidents, a pro-ISIS account on Telegram called on Muslims living in the US, Europe and Russia to punish the “crusaders” as they usher in the new year.
“Oh monotheists in Europe, America, Russia and other lands of the Crusaders, we know that you are eager to join your brothers in the land of Jihad, but the paths have been cut off for you,” a translated version of the post read. “The Crusaders are among you. Their security has been prolonged, and your brothers are being killed.
“The time has come to take out the swords from their sheaths and to hamstring the horses in their places that Allah loves and is pleased with,” the post continued. “They are preparing for the feast of their polytheism, so turn their feast into mourning and their joy into a calamity.”
The post called on fellow Muslims to “repeat the attack on them and repeat the days of those who preceded you on this path.”
“So, lie in wait for them, lie in wait, and seize opportunities and attack them like a hungry lion attacks its heedless prey,” the message read. “Let none of you be cowardly or weak, and let the saying of Allah be before your eyes: Come and fight the polytheists all together as they fight you all together, so put your trust in God and repeat the days of terror against the Crusaders with killing, spite and torture, for the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: ‘An unbeliever and his killer will never meet in the Fire, so support God and He will support you, and be honest with Him.’”
Shamsud-Din Jabbar, the Houston Muslim who plowed a rented pickup truck into New Year’s revelers in New Orleans Wednesday, and Matthew Livelsberger, the active-duty Green Beret who was inside the Tesla Cybertruck that blew up outside the Trump International Hotel Las Vegas hours later, both served at Fort Bragg [now known as Fort Liberty] and deployed to Afghanistan in 2009, according to authorities.
“Between 2007 and 2015, Jabbar was a human resources specialist and an IT specialist,” Fox News reported. “Livelsberger was an Army Green Beret in the 10th Special Forces group.”
Additionally, both men used the same Turo app to rent the electric pickup trucks used in the attacks.
Authorities maintain however that there is no evidence that the two incidents are related.
In fact, the leading theory regarding the Las Vegas explosion is that it was “a suicide with a bombing,” not a “suicide mission.”
Las Vegas Sheriff Kevin McMahill said during a press conference on Thursday afternoon that the coroner’s office found that Livelsberger “had sustained a gunshot wound to the head prior to the detonation of the vehicle.”
Although he would not confirm with 100 percent certainty that the charred body found in the cyber truck was Livelsberger’s, the sheriff said he believed the Green Beret’s actions indicated “a suicide with a bombing that occurred immediately thereafter,” rather than a “suicide mission.”
Livelsberger’s military ID and passport were found inside the Cybertruck, as well as a Desert Eagle .50 caliber semi-automatic pistol and an SLR Rifleworks B30. Both weapons, and Livelsberger himself, were burnt “almost beyond recognition,” according to McMahill. He said investigators also recovered a cache of fireworks, along with an iPhone, a smartwatch, and several credit cards in Livelsberger’s name.
Adding to the conundrum, Livelsberger’s uncle, told The Independent that the Green Beret did not fit the stereotype of an Islamic terrorist in any way.
The suspect was “was a 100 percent patriot” who “loved” President-Elect Donald Trump, Air Force veteran Dean Livelsberger said.
Livelsberger, 37, was “like a Rambo-type, for lack of a better word,” according to the uncle.
Dean, the younger brother of Livelsberger’s father, Roger, added that his nephew “loved the Army.”
“He used to have all patriotic stuff on Facebook, he was 100 percent loving the country,” he continued. “He loved Trump, and he was always a very, very patriotic soldier, a patriotic American. It’s one of the reasons he was in Special Forces for so many years. It wasn’t just one tour of duty.”
Dean Livelsberger said he was aware of the explosion in Vegas, but had not yet been made aware that Matt, as he called him, had been named as the culprit until The Independent contacted him for comment. At first, Dean assumed the explosion had been caused by “one of those big lithium batteries that short-circuited or something,” he said. He was relieved that the blast only caused seven minor injuries and didn’t kill anyone else. But, he added, the amateurish construction of the explosive device, an array of propane tanks, fireworks and camping fuel, left him with a slew of additional questions.
“Matt was a very skilled warrior, and he would be able to make — if it was him, and if he did this — he would’ve been able to make a more sophisticated explosive than using propane tanks and camping fuel. He was what you might call a ‘supersoldier.’ If you ever read about the things he was awarded, and the experience he had, some of it doesn’t make sense, when he had the skills and ability to make something more, let’s say, ‘efficient.’ His skills were enormous from what he had been taught in the military.”
Dean Livelsberger said his nephew “could have fashioned a bomb that would have obliterated half of that hotel if he seriously wanted to hurt others.”
“Think of Oklahoma City,” he said. “McVeigh was just a normal soldier. Not a Tier 1 operator like Matt.”
Dean told the Independent that “Matt wasn’t estranged from the family at all. Everyone thought the world of Matt.”
On Friday, former Army intelligence analyst and independent journalist, Sam Shoemate, revealed that he received an email with a manifesto from Livelsberger, and had provided the information to the FBI.
“I reached out to the FBI this morning and forwarded the contents of this email to them,” Shoemate posted on X Thursday. “I’ll discuss this in depth tomorrow.”
Shoemate was scheduled to detail the evidence on the Shawn Ryan Show on Friday.
Update:
The email from Matthew Livelsberger allegedly claims the ‘drones’ seen on the east coast have been utilizing “gravity manipulation.”
Livelsberger claims China and the United States are the only ones with anti-gravity drones like this and that the U.S. needs to come clean about their weaponization of dangerous technology.
“China has been launching them from the Atlantic from submarines for years, but this activity has recently picked up,” Livelsberger writes in the email. “These drones “are the most dangerous threat to national security that has ever existed,” the email continues. “They basically have an unlimited payload capacity and can park it over the White House if they wanted. It’s checkmate.”
Livelsberger said he also had knowledge of war crimes that occurred in the Nimruz province in Afghanistan in 2019.

Update:
Las Vegas Metro police released two more letters from Livelsberger Friday afternoon, in which he calls on Americans to “rally around” Donald Trump, Elon Musk and RFK Jr.
“It’s evident that [Livelsberger] considered, planned, and thoughtfully prepared for this act alone,” FBI Special Agent Spencer Evans said.
Evans added that despite the public nature of the incident, it “ultimately appears to be a tragic case of suicide involving a heavily decorated combat veteran who was suffering with PTSD and other issues.”
The letters bear no resemblance to the letter obtained by Shoemate.
It appears to me that Livelsberger had gone off his rocker.
I would say “The person in the truck” until a positive ID is forthcoming!
