EPA Approves California’s Plan to Ban Gas-Powered Cars by 2035

On Wednesday, the Biden Administration’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approved California’s radical plan to ban the sales of all gas-powered cars by the year 2035.

As reported by Fox News, Governor Gavin Newsom (D-Calif.) has been spearheading the far-left agenda of the so-called “green” lobby that believes global warming is real, and thus seeks to ban gas-powered vehicles in order to reduce carbon emissions. But in order to implement this particular plan, the state needed a waiver from the EPA, which was ultimately granted.

Two waivers were approved by the EPA, both granted under the Clean Air Act. The first would give the state permission to phase out the sale of gas cars in the state, thus granting the state’s request to mandate that no less than 35% of new cars be “zero emission” by 2026, and 90% by 2027.

The second waiver gives California officials the authority to mandate that all car sales in the state be zero emission within this decade.

But these policies have been denounced by President-elect Donald Trump, who has suggested he may kill these plans once he takes office.

“Fresh off imposing his insane, job-killing electric vehicle mandate at the federal level, Crooked Joe Biden is preparing to slaughter the remnants of the U.S. auto-industry by approving California’s waiver request outlawing the sale of all gasoline-powered automobiles,” said incoming White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt in a statement.
