New Missouri State Legislator Introduces Bill to Award $1,000 Bounty to Americans who Report Illegal Aliens

A newly-elected state lawmaker in Missouri has introduced a bill that will award a bounty of $1,000 to any citizen who reports an illegal alien to the authorities.

As reported by Fox News, the bill introduced by State Senator-elect David Gregory (R-Mo.), SB 72, would see citizens receive their reward only after an illegal has been arrested. Such tips would be processed through “an information system for people to report violations of this act which shall include a toll-free telephone hotline, e-mail, and online reporting portal.” The system would be implemented and managed by the state’s Department of Public Safety.

In addition, Senator-elect Gregory’s bill would create a new “Missouri Illegal Alien Certified Bounty Hunter Program,” granting authority for certain citizens to act as bounty hunters within the state, “for the purpose of finding and detaining illegal aliens.” However, the only Missourians who can apply to be bounty hunters are bail bond agents and surety recovery agents.

SB 72 would also make it a state felony to be in the state as an illegal alien, thus adding to the legal punishments for illegals who are captured in the state.

“As I ran for State Senate, I promised to make Missouri a national leader in combating illegal immigration,” said Gregory in a post on X.

“Now, I’m following through with my promise. SB 72 makes it a felony to be here illegally and the bill will finally allow Missouri law enforcement to find and arrest illegal immigrants,” the new state senator continued. “We need all hands on deck to ensure we catch illegal immigrants BEFORE they commit violent crimes.”

Immigration proved to be one of the most important issues in the 2024 election cycle, with former President and now President-elect Donald Trump vowing to crack down on immigration, finish building the southern border wall, and carry out the largest mass deportation operation in American history.
