Making America Healthy Again, Trump’s Health Picks Bring Validity to MAHA

A 2021 study published by the Lancet that finds that nearly 208 million Americans are either obese or overweight is lending credibility to the incoming Trump administration’s promise to “Make America Healthy Again” (MAHA).

To that end, President-elect Trump has chosen Robert F. Kennedy Jr. along with 5 doctors to address the epidemic of chronic disease, to return federal health agencies to their gold-standard of evidence-based science and to clean up the corruption in those agencies.

Kennedy has been chosen to head up the Department of Health and Human Services while the other nominees will be tasked with restoring trust in the nation’s public health agencies.

Last week, Trump nominated Stanford physician and economist Dr. Jay Bhattacharya to oversee the National Institutes of Health (NIH) whose leadership during the Covid pandemic actively sought to blacklist Bhattacharya for questioning lockdown and vaccine mandates.

According to PBS, Kennedy has said he would pause the NIH’s focus on infectious disease research and drug development and shift its focus to chronic disease.

Trump has also chosen Dr. Mehmet Oz to lead the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) with an eye toward cutting waste and fraud as well as incentivizing disease prevention so that every tax dollar spent through the massive bureaucracy is getting the best results.

Dr. Dave Weldon has been picked to direct the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and to place its focus back on ending the chronic disease epidemic while working to restore the lost trust and faith that resulted from the CDC engaging in censorship, misinformation and manipulation of data during the Covid pandemic.

Another member of the incoming MAHA team is Dr. Marty Makary who has been selected to lead the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Not only would Makary be in charge of the agency overseeing the safety and security of medical devices, cosmetics, food and medications, but he would also be tasked with limiting the regulatory corruption that has sprung up between FDA employees and Big Pharma.

Finally, Trump has nominated Dr. Janette Nesheiwat to be the nation’s Surgeon General.

Nesheiwat is a double board-certified Medical Doctor who, if confirmed as Surgeon General will have little administrative power but will be able to influence public health matters by issuing advisories and suggesting warning labels.

Aggressive pushback against MAHA and Trump’s nominees has been primarily from members of the legacy media whose largest advertisers are Big Pharma.

Leave it to the Babylon Bee to deliver the most truthful, tongue-in-cheek headline about that pushback.
