In one of the clearest examples of the changes coming to Washington D.C., President-elect Donald Trump has nominated a Stanford physician who was once targeted by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to the lead the health agency.
Dr. Jay Bhattacharya MD, PhD will be taking over the for Francis Collins who, along with Anthony Fauci, sought to blacklist him for questioning some of the NIH’s more controversial Covid policies such as lockdowns and mask mandates for children.
Labeled “fringe epidemiologist” by than NIH director F. Collins to Fauci email 10/2020
“They opposed and suppressed the Great Barrington Declaration to create an illusion of consensus that did not actually exist”

Bhattacharya was a signatory to the Great Barrington Declaration which garnered more than 940,000 signatures from medical practitioners, public health scientists and concerned citizens who had grave concerns about the physical and mental health impacts of the prevailing Covid-19 policies.
The Declaration was written by Bhattacharya in cooperation with Dr. Sunetra Gupta and Dr. Martin Kulldorff who sought to promote a science-based approach to the pandemic based on “focused protection” for the vulnerable older generation as well as those with compromised immunity.
Instead of lockdowns, the doctors argued that individuals in low risk groups should resume their normal lives as the virus spreads throughout society, building herd immunity.
Emails between Anthony Fauci and Francis Collins called for a “quick and devastating takedown” of the declaration’s premises and smeared Bhattacharya, Gupta and Kulldorff as “fringe epidemiologists” for correctly pointing out that lockdowns were never a part of pandemic policy previously.
Bhattacharya’s appointment to lead the NIH has a strong element of poetic justice, given the official attempts to smear and silence the physician for advocating a more sane and less destructive strategy for dealing with the coronavirus.
Whatever happens now, there is a beautiful poetic justice with the ascendence of @DrJBhattacharya to the position of the man at NIH who called him a "fringe epidemiologist" and triggered a grotesque tech and academic boycott of his ideas. Let the new era begin!
