How can one possibly write what words can barely express?
The 2024 election is one that will be studied, analyzed, debated, and remembered for all of time, not only as one of the most fascinating and historic elections ever, but also for just how much it captures the spirit of the United States in both the darkest times and the brightest times.
Awakening
I will confess: when Election Day started, I was incredibly doubtful. Even though President Trump had proven in the past to be more than capable of winning against impossible odds, the specter of mass voter fraud from the 2020 election still hung heavy over everyone at the watch party I was attending. We were all mentally prepared for a long night and the dreaded possibility of yet another so-called “red mirage.”
That was why I remained cautiously skeptical, even as the New York Times’ iconic needle began to swing further and further right in its projections of the probability of a Trump victory. After all, the same infamous needle had begun to swing towards Trump as the night went on four years ago too…before 3 AM count stops and sudden ballot dumps changed everything.
I will always remember the moment that I knew President Trump won in 2016. For me, it was when Fox News called Wisconsin—a state that had not voted for a Republican since 1984—for Trump.
In 2024, the equivalent Fox-Wisconsin moment for me was when, shortly after 10 PM EST, the Times’ needle shifted to project that Trump was not only the favorite to win the electoral college but the popular vote as well. The (frustratingly delayed) calling of Georgia and North Carolina for Trump began to convert even the most pessimistic among us. Reports that the Harris campaign headquarters had stopped talking to the press had us all on the edge of our proverbial seats, ready for the moment when we could finally celebrate.
And, just as in 2016, the moment it was finally confirmed beyond any reasonable doubt was when Fox called Pennsylvania for President Trump. The cheers, chants, and songs of the crowd around me carried off into the otherwise still night in Washington, D.C.
It was the kind of energy that had me wide awake with sheer joy throughout the following day, even though I had managed to get a mere three hours of sleep. Just as in 2016, it still feels like an incredible dream that you feel like you may wake up from at any moment, only to realize that this is, in fact, our reality again.
Hope
And what is the bottom line of all of this? Hope.
What happened Tuesday night was about hope. Today is about hope. Tomorrow is about hope. We, the proud silent majority who love our country and the great values of Western Civilization that it stands for, came together once more to declare that this would not be America’s last stand. We declared that we can hope for a better and brighter future than the economic doom, decline of international strength, and deterioration of our culture that has been perpetrated by the powers that be for far too long.
We have also shown the world that we are not afraid to make history again. President Donald J. Trump can now claim the mantle of achieving the single greatest political comeback in American history, if not the biggest political comeback of all time. Even the likes of Presidents Cleveland and Nixon could not compare to the adversity that President Trump had to overcome to secure this historic victory. President Trump overcame every single obstacle you could possibly imagine, and even a would-be assassin’s bullet could not stop him from fighting to the very end.
And winning.
In a landslide.
As the mass voter fraud began unfolding in the 2020 election, I wrote that President Trump was on the verge of becoming an American Moses, a great man who would lead his people out of the darkness but ultimately never get to see his people make it to the Promised Land. Now, thankfully, we know that this is not the case. He will get to see the culmination of his efforts after all, and because he never gave up on America, the American people, in turn, never gave up on him.
This hope needn’t only extend to the capabilities and achievements of one man, as great as he is. This election is also about hope for all Americans, who only stand to benefit from a freer, more prosperous, and more secure America that only President Trump can deliver. The rise, fall, and return of President Trump perfectly mirrors a similar dynamic for the entirety of the country: the resurgence, decline, and comeback of the United States of America, in a story that could only come from the greatest country in the history of the world.
Change
The 2016 election was the beginning of a brave new era in American politics and culture. The 2024 election may very well be the beginning of the end of that era, but it benefits greatly from the knowledge of mistakes made, lessons learned, and goals to be realized as a result of President Trump’s first term.
It will not be easy to simply undo the damage caused by the disastrous reign of the empty suit Joe Biden and the even-emptier suit Kamala Harris. From the near-catatonic economy and record-high inflation to raging wars all over the world, President Trump has a lot on his plate before he even takes office. But if there is one man capable of taking out the trash left behind by his predecessors, it’s Donald Trump.
We could spend time trying to explain to the hysterical left that this is not the end of the world, nor the rise of “literally Hitler,” nor the erosion of their “rights.” But that would be a waste of time, for it takes much more than words to change the human mind. Rather than try to convince them rhetorically, we must simply strive to make America such a rich and fulfilling place to live under Donald Trump that they will have no choice but to accept through practical, day-to-day reality what they would not accept through attempts at debate or persuasion. Clearly, this tactic worked on a large enough percentage of the population that President Trump was finally able to capture the popular vote.
Once more, President Trump will be a president for all Americans, even if they don’t know it yet. Even as they may slander us and refuse to accept the results and protest and threaten throughout the next four years, President Trump will stand tall and personify the most important thing out of any election: the unity afterward. It has always been his message that he will unite the country and make life better for all Americans, no matter who they are. When he says “Make America Great Again,” he means it, for all of us.
It’s the dawn of a new day in America. We have a lot of work to do.
Welcome back, Mr. President. Sorry, we kept you waiting.
I wish I could be as optimistic as the author that President Trump “will get to see the culmination of his efforts”. There is no doubt in my mind that the left and the “deep state” is more determined than ever to kill him and even the best security in the world can have have times when they “let their guard down” as we have already seen.
