Massie for Sec. of Agriculture? Kentucky Congressman Says He’s Game, If Trump Asks

Representative Thomas Massie (R-KY) has been re-elected to his 4th District Congressional seat, and may also be under consideration for a cabinet position if President-elect Trump calls upon him.

In a tweet on X, Massie praised Trump’s successful presidential bid and said Trump’s victory “secured a mandate for big ideas like reversing chronic disease, conserving our land, and empowering American farmers.”

The Kentucky Congressman noted that Trump was able to unite a number of neglected constituencies, including the Amish who wish to be left alone to grow healthy food, to parents seeking greater food freedom in accessing nutritious food for their families.

Massie stated that he is willing to help the newly elected president with agenda to focus on improving the health and well being of Americans but was careful to clarify that, as of yet, he had not received any commitments or offers from the incoming administration.

Massie has been a leading proponent of food freedom in Congress and has proposed a Constitutional Food Freedom Amendment as well as working to empower farmers and legalize local food production.

Earlier this year, Massie introduced the Interstate Milk Freedom Act which would rein in federal agencies like the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and prevent them from outlawing peaceful commerce between farmers who sell unpasteurized milk and their willing customers.

President-elect Trump has built working relationships with former Senator Robert F. Kennedy Jr., prompting speculation that RFK Jr. could be under consideration for a position in the Dept. of Health and Human Services.

There’s also talk of Elon Musk joining the Trump administration as a government waste czar.

For those following Massie’s efforts to secure greater food freedom and and to rein in heavy-handed federal regulators, it’s not hard to understand why he might be a prime choice for Sec. of Agriculture should Trump choose to call on him.
