Former President Donald Trump blasted Joe Biden and Kamala Harris Tuesday, accusing them of “leading us to the brink of World War III” after Iran launched dozens of ballistic missiles into northern Israel in an escalation of hostilities between the two nations.
Some of the Iranian missiles made direct impact in central and southern Israel, an Israeli military spokesman said.
“We carried out many interceptions,” Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said in a statement. “There are a few impacts in the center and some more in the south. At this stage, we are assessing the situation. We are not aware of injuries.”
The missile attack came Tuesday night after Israel launched a ground operation in southern Lebanon targeting Iran-backed Hezbollah.
Israeli officials told reporters that the ground offensive in Lebanon involves “localized raids” aimed at wiping out Hezbollah outposts and are “very limited in scope” with no plan for a “long-term occupation.” Officials also said Israel has been conducting cross-border raids inside Lebanon since last year.
Israel’s ground offensive in Lebanon has resulted in the death of more than 1,000 people, and the displacement one million Lebanese citizens, according to CNN.
The Pentagon announced on Monday that the US is sending thousands more troops to the Middle East, bringing the total number of US troops stationed at bases in Iraq, Syria, Jordan and other Middle Eastern countries to 43,000.
When asked yesterday whether the U.S. would be sending more troops to the Middle East, Joe Biden, apparently out of the loop, answered “no.”
On Tuesday, Biden convened a meeting with Kamala Harris and top national security officials to discuss the expected missile attack by Iran on Israel, according to White House spokesperson Emilie Simons.
”@POTUS just convened a meeting with @VP and their natsec team to discuss Iranian plans to imminently launch a significant ballistic missile attack against Israel. They reviewed the status of U.S. preparations to help Israel defend against attacks and protect U.S. personnel,” Simons posted on X.
Biden also posted on X that he and Harris had met with the national security team earlier today “to discuss Iranian plans to launch an imminent missile attack against Israel. We discussed how the United States is prepared to help Israel defend against these attacks, and protect American personnel in the region.”
Former President Donald Trump issued a statement of his own, Tuesday, accusing Biden and Harris of being AWOL as the world devolves into chaos.
“The World is on fire and spiraling out of control. We have no leadership, no one running the Country,” Trump wrote. “We have a non-existent President in Joe Biden, and a completely absent Vice President, Kamala Harris, who is too busy fundraising in San Francisco, a City which she and Gavin Newscum totally destroyed, and staging fake photo ops. No one is in charge and it’s not even clear who is more confused: Biden or Kamala. Neither has any idea what is even going on.”
The GOP presidential nominee compared the current chaotic state of the world today to the relative peace and tranquility of the Trump years.
“When I was President, Iran was in total check. They were starved for cash, fully contained, and desperate to make a deal. Kamala flooded them with American cash and, ever since, they’ve been exporting terror all over, and unraveling the Middle East,” he said.
In October of 2023, Trump’s Director of National Intelligence John Radcliff estimated that the Biden Regime’s monetary support for Iran amounted to approximately $60 billion, strengthening “an Iranian regime we left weaker and poorer than it had been in the last 20 years.”
Trump continued:
Under ‘President Trump,’ we had NO WAR in the Middle East, NO WAR in Europe, and Harmony in Asia, No Inflation, No Afghanistan Catastrophe. Instead, we had PEACE. Now, War or the threat of War, is raging everywhere, and the two Incompetents running this Country are leading us to the brink of World War III. You wouldn’t trust Joe or Kamala to run a lemonade stand, let alone lead the Free World.
It is no surprise that Iran desperately wants Kamala Harris to be President, because they know as long as she is in power, they can take advantage of America. That is why they have tried to target me.
If I was in charge, October 7th never happens, Russia/Ukraine never happens, Afghanistan Botched Withdrawal never happens, and Inflation never happens. If I win, we will have peace in the World again. If Kamala gets 4 more years, the World goes up in smoke.”
In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “Look at the World today — Look at the missiles flying right now in the Middle East, look at what’s happening with Russia/Ukraine, look at Inflation destroying the World. NONE OF THIS HAPPENED WHILE I WAS PRESIDENT!”
In a subsequent post, Trump wrote: “THIS WAR WAS TOTALLY PREVENTABLE. IT SHOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED. IF I WERE PRESIDENT, IT WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Following Iran’s missile attack Tuesday evening, Israel’s Defense Forces spokesperson made clear that the hostilities would continue to escalate.
“There was a serious attack on us, and there will be serious consequences,” Hagari said.
