Did Zelensky’s Trip to PA to Campaign for Kamala Constitute Misuse of Tax Dollars?

Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky’s recent visit with Defense and State Department officials to a Pennsylvania ammunition factory has prompted an investigation by the House Oversight Committee.

At issue is whether the Biden administration’s use of U.S. military resources to fly Zelensky from New Jersey to Pennsylvania to campaign for Vice President Kamala Harris ahead of the 2024 presidential election was an abuse of taxpayer-funded resources.

According to Politico, Pentagon spokesman James Adams confirmed that the military airlift was paid for by the Department of Defense, at the request of administration officials.

Comer has opened an investigation into whether the Biden-Harris administration attempted to use Zelensky’s visit and government property in order to benefit Harris’s presidential campaign.

Comer sent letters to Attorney General Merrick Garland, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and White House Counsel Edward Siskel, reminding them that, in 2019, the Democrat-controlled House impeached then President Trump for abuse of power for allegedly trying to use Zelensky to benefit his 2020 presidential campaign.

During Zelensky’s Pennsylvania visit, he met with numerous Democratic leaders, including Governor Josh Shapiro and staged photo ops of the politicians signing artillery shells that would be sent to Ukraine.

While being interviewed by the New York Times, Zelensky made numerous comments critical of the Trump-Vance ticket and expressed concern that a Trump administration would not be able to stop the war in Ukraine.

Comer is asking the Department of Justice to review the Biden administration’s coordination with the Ukrainian government regarding Zelensky’s itinerary while in the U.S. and is requesting documentation of:
