Donald Trump Should Hammer Kamala on the Afghanistan Withdrawal

In the wake of her disgusting attack on President Trump and the Gold Star families who invited him to Arlington, it is time for a searing counterattack. Harris’s decision to make an issue of Trump’s visit to Arlington National Cemetery on the anniversary of the tragic loss of more than a dozen servicemembers in the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan was an enormous, unforced error.

The Afghanistan withdrawal was the biggest foreign policy disaster of the Biden-Harris administration. That Kamala would bring it up unbidden, and in the context of attacking Trump for honoring those very servicemembers, is a sign of an amateur hour campaign. If Kamala were smart, she would fire her advisors and social media team immediately. Of course, if Kamala were smart, she wouldn’t be Kamala.

Trump already unleashed a devastating response to Kamala’s attacks. He posted a series of statements and videos from the Gold Star families criticizing Harris for failing to answer their calls for accountability.

The decision by liberal veterans and DNC activists to attack Trump for showing up to Arlington to commemorate the loss of young American servicemembers was a hysterical and reactive stance. The images of Trump laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, looking both somber and presidential, contrasted starkly with the complete absence of Biden and Harris.

Biden was lying on a beach on yet another vacation. Kamala was just 10 minutes away, hanging out in her mansion.

Democrats went into panic mode at being outflanked by Trump and immediately started foaming at the mouth. Liberals in charge of the cemetery issued a statement alleging, without proof, that there was a verbal altercation between Trump’s team and cemetery staff regarding the presence of Trump staffers with cameras despite photography being allowed on the grounds.

Images of Trump posing with gold star families by the graves of their loved ones, including some with Trump smiling and giving a thumbs up, went viral, with liberals claiming these photos disrespected the dead despite the fact that the families were also smiling and giving the thumbs up.

Kamala could have simply let her attack dogs do the filthy work of attacking Trump for honoring the fallen, but no. She couldn’t stay out. Kamala, in a long-form tweet last Friday, repeated the lie that Trump called fallen soldiers “suckers and losers” and criticized him for “disrespecting sacred ground.”

This is too much. For one, Donald Trump was at Arlington at the invitation of the Gold Star families.

Photography is allowed at Arlington and Trump is not the first or last American president to be photographed and filmed while at the cemetery. Trump, however, was not making political content during his most recent visit. While photos of him at the cemetery were posted to the internet by some of his aides and by others in attendance at the private ceremony, they were not used in the context of political campaigning.

However, there is a major political figure who has used Arlington cemetery footage for political purposes. In 2020, Joe Biden used footage of himself in Section 60 at Arlington National Cemetery in a literal campaign ad. In June of this year, he again used footage of American military cemeteries in an ad attacking Donald Trump.

Liberals claiming to oppose Trump for being photographed at Arlington are being deeply disingenuous. There has been no such criticism of Biden.

But there is a deeper context to all of this. The reason those 13 American servicemembers were killed at Abbey Gate in 2021 was because Joe Biden decided to leave American troops in place to facilitate the evacuation of more than 100,000 Afghans who claimed to be refugees from the Taliban. Joe Biden put the lives of foreigners over the lives of Americans.

American troops risked their lives for Afghans who would not risk theirs for their own country. The idea that America needed to provide residence and citizenship to every single foreigner who had ever rendered (paid) service to the American regime is idiotic and dangerous.

In the spring of 2021, Joe Biden decided to extend the Afghanistan withdrawal past Trump’s originally agreed date of May 1, 2021, to September 11, 2021. Biden wanted a symbolic date for the exit. He kept American troops in place not out of strategic considerations but because of political ones.

The deaths of those 13 young men and women did not have to happen. Biden should not have allowed Americans to risk their lives so that Afghans could immigrate to America. Foreign mercenaries who sign up to provide services to the American government have no right to citizenship.

The purpose of the American regime is to protect American lives. That includes the lives of our men and women in uniform.

Trump was right to honor the fallen at Arlington. He was right to go with the families. He was right to take pictures with them. He was right to lay wreaths at the graves of these patriots cut down too soon.

He is also right to attack Joe Biden and Kamala Harris for their incompetence in managing the withdrawal. He is right to punch back against libelous and disingenuous attacks on his attitude towards the troops.

It was a profound mistake for Kamala Harris to make this subject a political issue. Trump should make her pay. He should invite all of the families of the troops killed at Abbey Gate to the first televised debate between himself and Kamala Harris. He should make the catastrophic withdrawal the theme of the night.

Kamala Harris is not a smart woman. Her slapdash emergency campaign is characterized by frenetic energy and reactive policies. Trump can and should make her pay.

America needs a strong president who respects the men and women in uniform, who seeks peace through strength, and who honors the fallen. Trump is that man.
