Harris Campaign Cleans Up Her Embarrassing Word Salad About the ‘Significance of Diplomacy’

Kamala Harris’s campaign issued a deceptively edited transcript on social media overnight to clean up her bizarre and incoherent remarks to reporters at the airport in Prince George’s County, Maryland.

Joe Biden and Harris were at the airport late Thursday night to greet Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich, former U.S. Marine Paul Whelan, and journalist Alsu Kurmasheva when they arrived back on American soil following a prisoner swap with Russia.

Harris credited Biden for negotiating the swap and delivered one of her signature word salads to reporters: “This is just an extraordinary testament to the importance of having a president who understands the power of diplomacy and understands the strength that rests in understanding the significance of diplomacy and strengthening alliances,” Harris said.

Harris’ word salad quickly made the rounds on social media, with the RNC’s X account taking the lead.

“KAMALA — UNSCRIPTED FOR THE FIRST TIME,” RNC Research wrote on X, adding “WHAT?”

A minute later, as the Washington Free Beacon first reported, Kamala HQ posted an unedited clip of Harris’s comments on X, but cleaned up the quote to make it more coherent.

“Vice President Harris: This is an extraordinary day and I’m very thankful for our president. This is an extraordinary testament to the importance of having a president who understands the power of diplomacy and strengthening alliances,” the campaign wrote.

Here’s the full quote of Harris’ remarks: “This is an extraordinary day, and, um, I’m very thankful for our president and what he has done over his entire career but in particular as it relates to these families and these individuals—what he has been able to do to bring the allies together on many issues but in particular this one. This is just an extraordinary testament to the importance of having a president who understands the power of diplomacy and understands the strength that rests in understanding the significance of diplomacy and strengthening alliances. This is an incredible day.”

Later, for some undisclosed reason, Biden wandered away from the group and climbed the stairs of the empty plane that had delivered the hostages—either because he was confused, or he needed to visit the restroom. Harris and Secret Service awkwardly stood by and watched the door until Biden reappeared a couple of minutes later and very slowly walked back down the stairs.

Republicans reacted to the latest Biden/Harris snafus on social media.

“The fact that first Joe Biden and now Kamala Harris cannot speak coherently without a teleprompter is not a bug but a feature for the staffers who run the presidency,” noted billionaire entrepreneur David Sacks on X. “The Party is more comfortable vesting authority in a politburo than a chief executive.”

Former GW Bush Press Secretary Ari Fleischer slammed the media for being “so passive” in the face of such incompetence.

“If you thought they were in the tank for Pres. Obama, it’s nothing compared now to their desire to defeat Trump and help Harris,” Fleischer posted on X. “They should be roasting Harris for hiding and refusing to do interviews. Instead, they’re in on it. If it helps her win, it’s more than fine with the MSM.”

Investor Eric Weinstein commented on X that he would like to see a different Democrat candidate.

“I do not know what this speech pattern is. But it is constant, frequently tautological and generally vacuous,” he said.

My concern is this:

I believe we have been governed by a small group around Joe Biden rather than Joe Biden for most if not all of this presidency. Kamala feels like a continuation of that.

“It doesn’t matter who the figurehead is, the party will govern through a tiny group making the titular president less important.”

In which case we should want to meet, vet and vote on who is actually going to be doing the governing. Not listening to some idiosyncratic improvisation on a talking points memo.

Update:

To explain Biden’s puzzling trip up the stairs to the plane, White House spokesman Andrew Bates claimed on X that Biden “was personally thanking the flight crew who brought these brave individuals home to their families.”
