A new report alleges that teachers at Pentagon schools openly supported far-left ideas and urged students to become left-wing activists, while also promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives to teachers.
According to the Daily Caller, the report from watchdog group Open The Books reveals that Department of Defense Education Activity (DODEA) schools, whose goal is to educate the children of service members who are stationed abroad, have been teaching left-wing subjects to students on the insistence of various far-left activist groups. This report was compiled through government repositories, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) documents, and videos taken of DODEA’s 2021 Equity and Access Summit, all of which were given to Open The Books by a whistleblower.
“These military service members are deployed abroad to defend and embody American ideals on the world stage,” said Adam Andrzejewski, CEO of Open The Books, in a statement. “Yet their children are being indoctrinated to a philosophy that places complex racial and gender identities over national pride. In fact, pushing students toward activism and teaching them that their relative privilege dictates their life experience can actually alienate them from the American dream.”
At the DODEA summit, speakers admitted that many of the materials used in such lessons were given to the DOD by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), a far-left hate group. One speaker at the summit, a middle school teacher, promoted the SPLC’s “Learning for Justice” resources and admitted to having “personally completed many of these lessons.”
The SPLC lessons openly demand that students participate in “activism” with a left-wing slant. One such lesson ordered students in the third, fourth, and fifth grades to create “a large-scale artistic depiction in a community space” or a “set of informational posters” which “reflect a diversity topic or social justice theme.”
The new report further confirms the Biden Administration’s efforts to actively inject a left-wing bias into the United States military, representing a dangerously partisan shift in an institution that had long been treated as nonpartisan.
