Democrat’s Newest ‘Basket of Deplorables’ Politician

What is it about high-profile female Democrats who hail from the Great State of New York that they feel that they can insult vast swaths of voters? In 2016, it was Hillary Clinton and it likely cost her the presidency when she called half of Trump’s supporters “a basket of deplorables.” That and not bothering to campaign in swing states in the Rust Belt she took for granted, like Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin, sealed her fate. And this contemptible woman has been denying the results of the 2016 election ever since she conceded.

Now we have New York Governor Kathy Hochul, possibly the dumbest, least self-aware politician in America. Not once but twice in the last month, Governor Hochul has insulted voting blocks in a state that was once safely blue. But if her last election in 2022 and current polling trends are accurate, New York is now clearly trending red (a state Biden won by a 23% margin in 2020). The margin, according to the latest New York Times/Sienna College Poll is now down to 9%. New York is a state that Joe Biden must now win if he is to be elected to a second term in November. Biden and Democrats are now in a full-blown freakout, according to the Democrat apologists over at Politico as well as at the Wall Street Journal.

Hochul’s foot-in-mouth troubles date back to the gubernatorial campaign in 2022. Before that, she had been selected as Governor Andrew Cuomo’s running mate in 2014. She assumed office in 2015 as Lieutenant Governor and was his running mate again in 2018, when Cuomo was reelected. After Cuomo resigned in disgrace amid sexual misconduct charges at the height of the “me-too era,” Hochul assumed the governorship on August 24, 2021, and it’s been downhill ever since.

In 2022, while running for governor in her own right in one of the most reliably blue states in the nation, Hochul came close to being upset by Republican candidate Lee Zeldin. It was the closest New York gubernatorial election since 1994 and the closest Democrat victory since 1982. Hochul’s margin of victory was a paltry 6.4%, far lower than the 23.4% for the Cuomo-Hochul ticket in 2018. Her poor showing was likely responsible for several down-ballot losses for Democrats in 2022 that allowed the GOP to eek out a slim House majority. Hochul, an upstate politician from Erie County, has struggled to connect with downstate New York City voters. In winning the 2022 election, Hochul became the highest-profile DEI governor in the nation.

Hochul’s governorship has been marked by one political optics disaster after another but accelerated into high gear on May 6 when, during an appearance at the Milken Institute Global Conference hosted by leftist MSNBC commentator Jonathan Capehart, she said, “Right now we have, you know, young black kids growing up in the Bronx who don’t even know what the word ‘computer’ is,” with the New York Post especially critical. The clownish Hochul was criticized and vilified in many quarters, even by left-leaning news outlets like NBC News and the New York Times. It should be noted that if a Conservative or a Republican, say Donald Trump, had made the same statement, he or she would be immediately branded as a racist. But the New York Times basically did their typical “cleanup on aisle five” cover for Hochul in their coverage, gaslighting their faithful readers.

Hochul, who apparently doesn’t learn, went into full Hillary Clinton mode last week on CNN when she said this about Trump’s hastily organized campaign rally last Thursday night in the South Bronx. “Well, I’ll tell you what won’t make a difference at all, Jake (Tapper), and that’s for Donald Trump to be a ringleader and invite all his clowns to a place like the Bronx,” she said. Such arrogance on Hochul’s part. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if her “clowns” comment comes back to haunt her and Democrats in the ass come November like it did Clinton in 2016?

In the aftermath of Hochul’s “clowns” comment, last Friday Hochul was humiliated when a reported 25,000 attendees showed up at President Trump’s speech in Crotona Park, ironically in the South Bronx. Mainstream media outlets like MSNBC (often called MSDNC for its stupendously biased, anti-Trump coverage from the likes of Russia conspiracy theorists like Rachel Maddow and unhinged ex-George W. Bush flack Nicole Wallace, who hosts the most hackneyed two hours of cable news commentary each afternoon, Dateline: White Housebeclowned themselves in their attempt to minimize the size of the crowd by showing footage taken hours before Trump arrived.

This all begs the question. Is there a less politically skilled governor in America? I don’t think so. Hochul makes Kristi Noem seem like a political juggernaut in comparison.

For Republicans in New York, Hochul is the gift that keeps on giving. With a little more than five months remaining, Hochul will have ample opportunity to further alienate voters in New York State. For the sake of New York’s 28 Electoral College votes, Republicans hope she will insert her foot in her mouth once again, putting New York in play and delivering New York into the red column in November.

  1. Oh come on! Wikipedia says:

Hochul became politically active during her college years at Syracuse University, leading a boycott of the student bookstore over high prices[.]

Can you spell “America’s got talent.”

  2. “…that allowed the GOP to eek out a slim House majority.”

Was someone frightened? One “ekes” out a win, and by the way, it’s voting bloc. not block. At least he didn’t write someone hit the breaks or took the reigns…

  3. The lesson of Hochul’s political obtuseness is nothing more than the Empire State is filled with equally obtuse idjots coming to your town in the near future! Gosh, ain’t America great? Vote Democrat/Progressive for decades with the result being high taxes, dampened opportunity, dismal educational standards producing cataclysmic results. I look forward to years of instructing the Newcomers on many levels.
