On Wednesday, newly-released IRS whistleblower documents alleged that the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) interfered with the House Ways and Means Committee’s efforts to interview Hunter Biden donor Kevin Morris.
According to Just The News, the claim was first made by the House Judiciary Committee and House Oversight Committee, which jointly sent a letter to CIA Director William Burns claiming that they had been informed of the interference by a whistleblower earlier in the year.
“According to the whistleblower, in August 2021, when IRS investigators were preparing to interview Patrick Kevin Morris, an associate of Hunter Biden, the CIA intervened to stop the interview,” said Chairmen Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and James Comer (R-Ky.) in their letter. “Two DOJ officials were allegedly summoned to CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia for a briefing regarding Mr. Morris. At that meeting, it was communicated that Mr. Morris could not be a witness during the investigation.”
The documents were provided to the committee by IRS whistleblowers Gary Shapely and Joseph Ziegler. Shapley’s affidavit claimed that Assistant U.S. Attorney Lesley Wolf from the Delaware prosecutor’s office, and Department of Justice (DOJ) Attorney Jack Morgan were both brought to the CIA’s headquarters in Langley, Virginia for a briefing on their involvement in the tax investigation against Hunter Biden.
There they were informed that the IRS “could no longer pursue” an interview of Kevin Morris as a witness. Wolf did not reveal the reasons that the CIA gave for cutting off their efforts.
“Although AUSA Wolf initially appeared to be receptive to facilitating a briefing for me on the information, she ignored multiple attempts by me to arrange the briefing,” said Shapley’s affidavit. “Since obtaining this briefing was outside of my control, eventually I was forced to accept it would not happen. However, it served as yet another example of deviations from normal investigative processes in this matter.”
As Hunter was being investigated for failing to pay his taxes, attention was drawn to Morris, the high-level Hollywood lawyer who came to be known as Hunter’s “sugar brother” due to the many lucrative payments he made directly to Hunter. Morris testified before Congress to giving Hunter millions of dollars in loans so that he could pay off expenses and legal bills.
