Far-left activists on social media have begun organizing a campaign to target celebrities, media personalities, and influencers who haven’t yet made a statement on the war between Israel and Hamas, demanding that they take the side of Hamas.
Breitbart reports that the movement was started by TikTok user @LadyFromTheOutside, who posted a video saying that “it’s time for the people to conduct what I want to call a ‘digital guillotine,’ a ‘digitine,’ if you will.”
“It’s time to block all the celebrities, influencers, and wealthy socialites who are not using their resources to help those in dire need,” she continued. “We gave them their platforms. It’s time to take it back, take our views away, our likes, our comments, our money, by blocking them all on social media and digital platforms.”
The radical leftist then began the campaign by targeting her first victim: Model and social media influencer Haley Kalil, also known as Haley Baylee, for mockingly saying “let them eat cake” while at the Met Gala.
“Haley Baylee, for your ignorant decision to attend the $75,000 ticket Met Gala and recite, ‘Let them eat cake,’ while you have done nothing with your 10 million flowerer platform as people are starving in and dying, we sentence you to the digitine,” said the TikTok leftist.
Kalil ultimately deleted her Met Gala video and issued an apology. In response, her following on TikTok decreased slightly, from 10 million followers to about 9.9 million.
Another celebrity who has been targeted by the online mob is pop singer Taylor Swift, who has remained silent on the conflict in the Middle East. One TikTok user, who described herself as a “Palestinian Swiftie,” said “I’ve liked Taylor and her music since I was a little girl. I even have tickets to her show in November.” However, she added, “there was an energy shift” after the terrorist attack against Israel on October 7th, 2023 by Hamas, at which point she said that listening to Swift began to feel “wrong” and “ignorant.”
“I think the biggest issue is that Taylor Swift has set the example for herself that she is somebody that speaks out against injustices,” she continued, pointing out that Swift endorsed Joe Biden for president, even as Biden has earned the ire of the far-left and much of the American youth for his poor handling of the war in Israel.
Other celebrities who have been targeted by the online campaign include the Kardashian family, Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, Drake, and Zendaya.
