As the crisis on the southern border continues and hordes of third-world illegal aliens are still pouring into the country, a new report from House Republicans finally reveals the staggering cost to the American taxpayers of sustaining these millions of illegals.
As reported by the New York Post, the report from the House Homeland Security Committee released on Monday says that taxpayers will have to spend at least $451 billion to provide benefits to the illegals. The 50-page document was compiled using federal records, state records, media reports, and other publicly-available information.
“Every day, millions of American taxpayer dollars are spent on costs directly associated with illegal immigration and the unprecedented crisis at the Southwest border sparked by Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’ policies,” the report states. “Only a small fraction is ever recouped from the taxes paid by illegal aliens, with the rest falling on the shoulders of American citizens and lawful residents.”
“This report reveals in painstaking detail the dollar costs facing the American people every day that this chaos continues, both in small towns on the border and in big cities like New York,” said Committee Chairman Mark Green (R-Tenn.).
The various expenditures for which taxpayers will be on the hook include government care and housing, which were among the benefits promised to illegals by Joe Biden and the other Democratic candidates for president in the 2020 election.
The committee report also states that there are currently between 17 million and 29 million illegals in the United States, citing research from the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) and Yale University. Of those totals, at least 3.8 million have come into the country since Joe Biden rose to power.
During testimony before the Senate last month, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas confirmed that over 600,000 illegals have entered the country in Fiscal Year 2023 without being stopped by Border Patrol agents. In the same period of time, at least 900,000 illegals came into the United States seeking asylum, and were released shortly thereafter.
