Tennis Legend Martina Navratilova Calls Out USTA’s Trans Inclusion Policy

Famed tennis star Martina Navratilova criticized the new transgender inclusion policy issued by the United States Tennis Association (USTA), denouncing it as “not right” and “not fair.”

As Fox News reports, Navratilova voiced her opposition on Twitter in response to a post by Kim Shasby Jones, the founder of the Independent Council on Women’s Sports (ICOWS). Jones wrote that “women’s tennis is turning into a laughing stock because of these terrible policies prioritizing the mental health and identity of men over women who have discovered a love of tennis.”

In response, Navratilova directly tagged the USTA’s official account, saying “Come on @USTA- women’s tennis is not for failed male athletes- whatever age. This is not right and it is not fair. Would this be allowed at the US Open this month? Just with self ID? I don’t think so…”

The new USTA policy dictates that “those who transition from male to female are eligible to compete in the female category under the following conditions: The athlete has declared that her gender identity is female. The declaration cannot be changed, for sporting purposes, for a minimum of four years.”

“Hormonal therapy appropriate for the assigned sex has been administered in a verifiable manner and for a sufficient length of time to minimize gender-related advantages in sport competitions,” the USTA’s statement continued, before specifying the exact levels of testosterone that are acceptable.

“Compliance with these conditions may be monitored by testing, which testing shall be administered in WTA’s sole discretion based on standards of reasonableness and fairness and in consultation with physicians and medical experts,” the statement added. “In the event of non-compliance, the player’s eligibility for competition in WTA Tournaments will be suspended for twelve (12) months.”

Navratilova, once revered by the Left as a gay rights icon, has since been ostracized and condemned by the Left as a “transphobe” for her stance. Despite the attacks, Navratilova has remained firm in her opposition to letting biological men compete in women’s sports under the guise of “transgenderism,” a scientifically-debunked mental illness in which a person falsely believes they are somehow of the opposite gender.

  1. IMHO we’re a profoundly unserious country when we obsess over confused men being allowed to play in women’s sports when nobody seems to care women are allegedly showing sufficient strength and stamina to get into direct combat jobs in the military.
