The June issue of Glamour magazine in the United Kingdom has sparked widespread backlash for featuring a pregnant “transgender man” on its cover.
As reported by Fox News, 27-year-old Logan Brown was born as a woman but now believes she is a man. As such, she is still capable of getting pregnant, as displayed in the cover where she appears topless with a painted-on suit. Brown’s husband is Bailey Mills, a drag performer who identifies as “non-binary.” Brown says she unexpectedly got pregnant after temporarily taking a break from using testosterone.
“I’ve been brought up in a very close-knit family, and so to bring a baby into the world in a queer relationship is the best feeling ever,” said Brown said in the magazine interview. “I feel like we’ll be able to love and appreciate each other, and my daughter will be able to grow up knowing that she’ll always be loved and accepted for whoever she is. And I think that’s a really important thing for her to be around.”
Brown admits to having suffered from “really bad mental health” problems as a child, which is a precursor to someone believing that they are transgender. Brown initially decided to be a lesbian before changing her mind again and choosing to explore the “identity of being trans.”
Brown recounted her accidental pregnancy, saying that she “took a pregnancy test and it was positive…it was like my whole world just stopped. That everything, all my manlihood that I’ve worked hard for, for so long, just completely felt like it was erased.” Brown is currently writing a book about her experiences, titled “My Daddy’s Belly: The Miracle of Male Birth.”
The cover image and Brown’s story has since been widely mocked online. Anti-trans activist Oli London, who detransitioned from being “transgender,” tweeted “Just when you thought Woke Companies could not sink any lower- Glamour UK magazine has featured this ‘pregnant man’ on the cover to kick off Pride Month. Time to BudLight @GlamourMagUK.”
