Massachusetts Air National Guardsman Facing 15 Years in Prison For Leaking the Truth About Ukraine War

Jack Teixeira, the 21-year-old Massachusetts Air National Guardsman accused of leaking a trove of classified military intelligence, was charged Friday in federal court with “retention and transmission of national defense information and willful retention of classified documents.”

The two criminal charges reportedly carry a maximum of 15 years in prison. Teixeira, who comes from a military family, did not enter a plea and will be detained until his hearing Wednesday.

Teixeira became a National Guard “cyber transports systems journeyman”—which is similar to an information technology specialist—in February and started leaking highly sensitive military documents to his small Discord chat group in early March, according to the New York Times.

As his unit provides intelligence for combat support and homeland security, Teixeira was granted a “top secret security clearance” in 2021.

Teixeira initially posted photographs of printed briefing reports on his Discord group, “Thug Shaker Central.” The leaked material eventually began circulating on platforms like Twitter, 4chan and Telegram.

“On Thursday afternoon, around a half-dozen rifle-carrying F.B.I. agents” raided Teixeira’s home in North Dighton, Mass, The Times reported.  The F.B.I. said in a statement that it had made an arrest and is continuing to conduct “authorized law enforcement activity” at the residence.

Dozens of highly classified documents intended for senior military and intelligence leaders were leaked, revealing highly sensitive information regarding the ongoing war in Ukraine.

According to documents, U.S. special forces have been deployed in the war-zone without the congressional approval required by law.

The documents also suggest that the Ukrainian forces are in “dire straits” with casualties that far outnumber Russian casualties, and without more munitions, “Ukraine’s air defense system may soon collapse, which could allow Russia to unleash its air force on Ukrainian troops,” according to the New York Times.

During his arraignment in Boston Friday, Teixeira, handcuffed, and wearing a beige prison-issued outfit, sat next to his lawyer, and nodded at his family in the first row.

Eastern before Magistrate Judge David Hennessy asked Teixeira if he understood that he has the right to be silent. After Teixeira answered yes, the judge reminded him, “Your words can be used against you.”

At the end of the hearing, Teixeira’s father shouted, “Love you, Jack!” The 21-year-old responded, “Love you, too, Dad.”

On Fox News Thursday evening, host Tucker Carlson hailed Teixeira as a whistleblower whose actions revealed hard truths to a nation that is continually told lies.

For the past 14 months, Carlson noted, the U.S. public has been told two particular lies: One, that the war in Ukraine is a war of national sovereignty, not a proxy battle between superpowers, and two, that Ukraine is winning that war.

“The United States is a direct combatant in a war against Russia,” he said in his opening monologue. “As we speak, American soldiers are fighting Russian soldiers so this is not a regional conflict in Eastern Europe.”

It has not been authorized by Congress and for that reason, this war is a violation of American law. It is a crime. The second thing we learn from these slides is that despite direct U.S. involvement, Ukraine is in fact losing the war. Seven Ukrainians are being killed for every Russian. Ukrainian air defenses have been utterly degraded. Ukraine is losing.

The Biden administration is perfectly aware of this. They’re panicked about it, but they have lied about this fact to the public. Just two weeks ago, for example, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin told the U.S. Senate that Russian military power is “waning.” In other words, Russia is losing the war. That was a lie. He knew it was when he said it, but he repeated it in congressional testimony. That is a crime, but Lloyd Austin has not been arrested for committing that crime.

Instead, the only man who has been taken into custody or likely ever will be is a 21-year-old Massachusetts Air National Guardsman who leaked the slides that showed that Lloyd Austin was lying. He revealed the crimes, therefore he’s the criminal.

Human Events’ Jack Posobiec called on Congress to evaluate whether Teixeira deserves whistleblower protections for exposing the regime’s lies.
