Despite the historic and unprecedented indictment of popular former President Donald Trump, the Biden White House has remained unusually silent on this breaking development.
As reported by Fox News, President Trump was indicted on Thursday by a Manhattan grand jury over a years-old case regarding an alleged non-disclosure agreement (NDA) and subsequent payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels in 2016. President Trump is currently the frontrunner for the Republican nomination in 2024, and thus could face Joe Biden once again in a rematch of the 2020 election.
But the Biden Administration has not yet released a statement on the indictment, and has declined to comment when asked about it by reporters.
The case is being prosecuted by the office of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, a far-left progressive who was supported in his campaign for DA by George Soros. The case against Trump has widely been described as extremely weak, as it is based almost entirely on the testimony of Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen, who himself has pleaded guilty of lying to Congress. The case was previously ignored by federal prosecutors in the Southern District of New York in 2019, and by the Federal Election Commission in 2021. Bragg has thus been accused of pursuing the case purely for political reasons.
“This evening we contacted Mr. Trump’s attorney to coordinate his surrender to the Manhattan D.A.’s Office for arraignment on a Supreme Court indictment, which remains under seal,” said a spokesman for Bragg’s office in a statement on Thursday. “Guidance will be provided when the arraignment date is selected.”
“This is Political Persecution and Election Interference at the highest level in history,” said President Trump in his own statement. “From the time I came down the golden escalator at Trump Tower, and even before I was sworn in as your President of the United States, the Radical Left Democrats- the enemy of the hard-working men and women of this Country- have been engaged in a Witch-Hunt to destroy the Make America Great Again movement.”
President Trump is facing other examples of weaponized lawfare by far-left prosecutors and the federal government alike to try to prevent him from running for office again. Former U.S. Attorney Jack Smith was appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland as Special Counsel to pursue Trump on a wide variety of ambiguous charges, ranging from the January 6th peaceful protests at the U.S. Capitol, to claims that President Trump kept classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.
